Adopt: Short for Adoptable. This means that the OC/design/whatever is up for grabs. Usually used with one of the modifiers (specified in the next comment) -Egg adopts: Someone makes an egg, and you don't know exactly what you're getting until the creator "hatches" them. Usually you only know the colors/patterns of the adopt, seen on the egg. -Mystery adopts: As the name suggests, MAs are adoptables that you don't know what you're getting until you've already adopted them Custom: A character/design you make for someone. Usually, it's based on some guidelines they set for you, but they can also ask for you to surprise them. In that case, you can make whatever. (So like, if they ask for a yellow dog, you wouldn't make them a purple cat.) Design: An OC/adopt that someone made. Usually used to refer to popular designer's works. Designer: Used to refer to someone who often makes adopts. Creator: Whoever made the adopt (duh)

NFT: Not For Trade. As the meaning suggests, this is usually used to describe OCs that they are very attached to and won't trade away. OC: Original Character. Used to refer to a character you made (or adopted). OTA: Offer To Adopt. Usually means OCs you own -CTA: Custom To Adopt. Sub-type of OTA. Means you need to make a custom to be able to adopt it. FCFS: First Come First Serve. Whoever commented first gets 'em. In batches of adopts, usually it's whoever asks for a specific one first. -NFCFS: Not First Come First Serve. Even if you asked for them first, you might not get them. /ATA: Ask To Adopt. The most common meaning. You need to ask for them first, THEN you can get 'em. Usually also fcfs, but not always. \ATA: Art To Adopt. You need to draw something for the creator (after they confirm ofc) NTA: Name To Adopt. You need to name them to adopt them. Whoever the creator decides has the best name gets them.

LMT: Let me type. Usually used when someone hasn't typed up their stuff beforehand. CP: Color palette. Not used often. Lazy: Adopts that are mainly one or two colors, with visibly very little work put into them. Blob: Simple, easy-to-draw OCs. Usually very little/simple patterns, and only a few colors. Usually they only have a vague shape of something, though it's really a whole range of blobbiness and firmness Original Species: A species that someone's made up. Can range from dogs with axolotl ears to cyborg furries to entirely new lifeforms.

Base: A drawing made by someone with the purpose to be used to create other stuff. This can range from just a simple body shape of an animal to multiple species with wings/accessories you can copy+paste onto them. /Bta: Bid to adopt. You have to bet something (money, points, etc) to get a chance at winning the adopt. If you have the highest bid, you get them. If someone else gives a higher bid, you don't. Sometimes there will be a certain amount that, if you bid it, you automatically win. \Bta: Bio to adopt: I don't know much about this, but I'd assume you have to write a short bio (backstory, name, etc, stuff like that) in order to adopt them. Auction: Same as /BTA Pta: Pay to adopt. There's a set price you have to pay to adopt them. Gacha: Have you ever gone to a place and seen those machines where you put a coin in and get a random prize, like a ring or a necklace or a little figurine? Gachas are like that. Can also go with any acronym, really- fcfs, ota, pta, etc.
