Isomers. Isomers are compounds that contain exactly the same number of atoms, i.e., they have exactly the same empirical formula, but differ from each other by the way in which the atoms are arranged

IONIC COMPOUND is made up of a metal and a nonmetal and the second portion is always ending in "ide." if the metal is in thhe middle portion of the periodic table u have to use roman numerals to clarify the ion charge for the metal. also metal is a cation and nonmetals are anions. the electron is transfered to the anion

cations are positive and anions are negative when finding charge us e the formula of amount of atom (charge) + amount of atom (charge) = 0 and solve for unknown variables

polar molecules are COVALENT BONDS (SHARED ELECTRON) but the electron is mostly shared unevenly due to electronegativity. ALSO NONMETAL +NONMETAL nonpolar molecules are the same but the elctron is shared evenly

ionic bonds: high melting point, soluable in water, conducts electricity polar: low melting point, soluable in water, non polar: low melting point, not solluble in water, solluble in non polar solvent.

Rules for Naming Molecular Compounds Write the name for both elements. Change the ending of the second element to ide. Place prefixes in front of each element based on the number of atoms present. The prefix 'mono' is only used on the second non-metal in the chemical formula. There shouldn't be two vowels in a row. For example, when you have 'mono' in front of 'oxide' it is written 'monoxide', not 'monooxide'.

LDF is stronger the bigger the molecule is. h-bonds have a super high melting point because theirs stroger

What ions end in ite? Ending (suffix) is ONLY for polyatomic anions that contain oxygen, when the polyatomic ion is contained in the following…. Examples: BrO2– = bromite ion.

update this post was totally useless all that effort went down the drain because the test was completely unrelated to the test review she gave us to study
