PLEASE READ: before I get into this, please note that I am not being inconsiderate about this also being pride month. I am not homophobic and I think everyone in the lgbtq+ community is valid, and I’m not trying to take anything away from that, genuinely. The reason I am making this post is because this is something that affects me personally, so it’s something I want to recognize and spread awareness about even if it's just me. Thank you for understanding. <3

Hey! So it's me, Gardenia Avery, and June is in fact national cancer survivor month. I am a cancer survivor myself, I was born with a tumor and they had to end up removing my tailbone on the 5th day of my existence in the outside world. Yeah, I was a cancer patient for about the first four years of my life, and I even got to have a wish and everything (I was three and went to sesame place and met elmo and stuff lmao). At this point now, I am 10 years cancer free. I still have to have check ups with oncology specialists every year but for 10 years I’ve been fine, so let’s hope for another 10, shall we? I wanted to write about this because I feel like maybe other people who’ve had cancer maybe don’t feel as open to talk about this. Maybe they don’t feel like they’re worth it or normal. Maybe other people don’t know what it's like or are making false assumptions- and if you have, I’m not accusing you or calling anyone out. (continued)

(continued) Actually, if I was someone who’d never had cancer I’d probably be thinking the same thing, or to be honest maybe even worse... But, as a cancer survivor, I would like to say that I like being who I am, and I wouldn’t have it any other way- even if cancer were to come back in me. So in all, if you’ve had, have, or will have at any point in your future, cancer, I want you to know that you are worth it and I love you. You’ll get through this, and if not, I want you to know that you fought hard, and I’ll fight for you too. <3

you were very strong as a 4 year old, i'll say. good on you! i am not a cancer survivor but i do also want to celebrate this month as both pride month and national cancer survivor month. my reason is that lung cancer has attacked my family for generations, but sadly, they mostly were killed by it. i have lost many family members due to it. happy cancer survivors month for those who battled cancer and lived/died and those who are currently battling it. you have my good luck and wishes.

Did you know that we are actually getting cancer every day? Cancer is just an overgrowth of cells. Our bodies are constantly generating new cells every day. Our immune system (or smth like that) takes the old cells and throws them away. So in a way, we all have cancer every day it's just not as bad as other cancers.

Not just another 10 years, For the rest of your life!! My family has been praying for you for like a year now so you are healed and the cancer does not come back, also you're lucky your tailbone is gone XD falling on it HURTS. Your birthday is actually in 2 months so that's almost 11 years? WE GOTTA DO THE come-over-do-shenanigans-eat-cupcakes-and-jump-on-trampoline. My dad had a tumor and had to get 3 ribs taken out.(there is a side of him on his torso that look like there is a giant bump, that's where they took the tumor out) anyways, Hope the tumor doesn't come back and happy cancer survivor month!!
