but ofc if they're a raging racist or homophobe you don't want them around,, but generally speaking its not going to stop a person from saying hurtful things if they're that dedicated to being immoral or a troll

I think they are only useful to convey *types* of people you don't like around, rather than singular individuals, which you can just block
Like, I may not be able to block all the people that like XYZ because I might not know if they do or not, but it can ward them away if they see it on the DNI
I know seeing them help me atleast, because it shows me boundaries if they're formatted as groups or fandoms of people rather than singular individuals. Because I like some people from DSMP (kill me, I know, I'm a criminal that should be lynched. /s) but a LOT of people do not like anyone from that server so I respect their boundaries.
TO DEFEND MYSELF I only like the chill ones like Ranboo, Ph1lza, Wilbur, and Techno when he was alive. I do not like Dream and his gang. (Kind of off topic but it's connected I swear.)

This is a fair point, if there's just a Fandom you hate you can suggest that they not speak with you- but I mean to me its just a shallow way of thinking. There's more to people than what they like or don't and if it isn't harmful or hateful then it doesn't really need to be put on a dni list. Obviously I'm not going to choose to interact with people who meet basic dni criteria unless its to mess with them or defend my point, so it just isn't very important to me

Yeah! I'm not like saying,, other people can't make dni lists or that I'm not going to respect their dni list, but to me personally it's not needed. I'd also suggest a more open mind to people than going "if you like xyz" dni because normally people don't base their entire personality around liking one thing
