most of what i say will be from this video so go watch that it’s definitely more digestible than a buncha words on a screen

LinkBasic Ways
-Avoid videos on youtube marked as for kids
•these videos do not have comment sections and will state underneath that they are under youtube kids
-Stay away from short form content (shorts)
•if you watch youtube shorts it’s best to stay away for now as that’s the quickest way to show you have low attention span and gravitate to kid centered content
i know this isn’t the case but realistically this is an ai that will be determining this
-Watch more long form videos
•Keep to long form youtube videos on the platforms; videos an ai might deem “mature” or something someone 18+ would watch
-Watch videos about the youtube age verification as well as videos pertaining to the SCREEN bill (737)
•This engagement will allow for more people to see videos like this and boost awareness in the algorithm

LinkThis ai will be scanning the content you watch and will ignore the date you set for your account upon setting it up which means it doesn’t matter how old you say you are it will do this anyway if the youtube ai determine you are a minor
If this is the case and it marks you as someone under the age of 18 do NOT use fake verification to determine you are of age because if you get cause this can lead to you getting into possible legal trouble and it’s just generally not a good idea
do not ever give your personal information and do not panic it’s not worth it
If you get marked as 18 or over you are fine and should be able to continue watching content as usual but even if you really are 18+ chances are the thing you watch could be considered childish by the ai so keep that in mind

LinkThis post has a short explanation of the SCREEN act as well as a link to the official bill so you and read it yourself i heavily advise you stay updated on matters because i know to some people this seems like not a big deal or a good idea to “protect children” but this is NOT about the children and it never was
