i just want to make sure im referring to people right before I know their pronouns. If I don't know someone's pronouns, is it okay if I refer to them as "they/them" until I know their pronouns? I'm not trying to hate on people in the LGBTQIA+ community, I am a straight cis female who never grew up with this stuff and I'm confused. I have a huge respect for people in the LGBTQIA+ community, because they're braver than I ever will be, but since I myself am not LGBTQ and none of my family is either (and almost none of my school is LGBTQ, I go to a Christian school and you have to keep that quiet or they'll suspend you which is stupid) I don't really understand stuff about that particular community. I might ask questions about that kind of stuff, but not because I am hating on it or anything, I just don't have real-life experience with this stuff and I don't want to address someone incorrectly (because I try to keep my profile drama-free :D). So if I ask someone about like what it means to be trans(not done

trans, it's only because I genuinely don't understand how it works.

i do have two questions about the LGBTQIA+ comminuty- 1. If I don't know someone's pronouns, do I refer to them as "they/them" until I know their pronouns? 2. Why are people trans? Like, what makes people want to switch genders? (I don't know how else to phrase this question, so just know that I don't mean to offend with this. I have never asked this before so I don't know how to approach it :D)

i mean it's okay to use they/them pronouns, that's what you're saposto do when your unsure of someones pronouns. like, if you found someones bag, and didn't know who's bag it was, you would say something like, "I found someones bag, they must have left it..." or something. They/them is basicle an umbrella term to use if your unsure of pronouns. So there's nothing wrong on using those pronouns.

as a trans guy its sorta hard to explain you know how baby birds are stuck in eggs and they want to get the flip out? thats sorta how it is with us. we are very uncomfy with being the gender we are now. we feel more comfy as the opposite gender then what we were born with. either bc we dont feel comfy in our bodies or people act like the opposite gender and they feel like they are the opposite gender
