This what if will contain spoilers for Darkstalker legends, the WoF series as a whole (probably), and MASSIVE spoilers for the winglet about Arctic and Foeslayer

Okay what if Foeslayer had ran away with Arctic without the other nightwings? (I REALLY cannot be the only one who's wondered this-) I'ma share how I think it would have played out, and affected the series as a whole. And well I'm typing or after ya'll can also share what you think would have changed if this what if had happened.

Okay for one I think that Queen Diamond would 100% have killed foeslayer's mother and the other nightwings that were visiting. This in turn would still spark war between the two tribes. But I think sometime after both queens died, a flimsy peace would likely be restored due to just how much carnage would have happened.

But what would happen to Fathom, Indigo, and Clearsight? This is kind of hard to say, as I think that Clearsight would be unaware of Darkstalker. It seems in the books that unless the events taking place on another content directly influence events that could happen to wherever the seer lives, they don't see what's happening. And without Darkstalker, Indigo and Fathom have no reason to ever travel to the nightwing kingdom. So I doubt Clearsight would become friends with Indigo and Fathom. Although I don't doubt that M A Y B E Fathom and Indigo would run away together.

This, what if, would also affect Sunny and her father DIRECTLY because if Whiteout never meets Thoughtful, whoever Stonemover and Sunny's ancestors are, don't exist. (Dune probably stays alive in this scenario tho, so plus?)

Okay okay I've stated what would become of the character directly related to Darkstalker and Whiteout, and Foeslayer, and Arctic. But what about them themselves? I think, over all, Arctic would have used less magic in this escape. I also think that he might not kill anyone during the escape. Instead using his magic to teleport DIRECTLY TO THE LOST CONTENT, or something to sneak past all the guards.

One of the reasons Arctic likely lost a whole lot of his soul and became so hostile, was the fact he accidentally killed so many guards during the escape. With this alternate, he doesn't kill anyone, and he uses less magic. And Arctic and Foeslayer would make it to the lost content, with Arctic in a MUCH better head space than he is at the end of the winglet and during Darkstlaker legends.

So, what about Darkstalker and Whiteout? For this we're gonna assume three things, 1- they both hatch on the same nights they do in the books, 2- Arctic being in a better head space affects Darkstalker, and 3- Darkstalker is still a future seer, mind-reader, and animus.

So maybe instead of Arctic thinking very ill of Darkstalker, he's a little disappointed he didn't get to name him, AND that he doesn't look a whole lot like him. I don't doubt that Darkstalker would act TOO much differently, maybe he sees in his parents heads stuff about their content. I still thinks he would want to be king, but I think he'd go about it differently, and I don't think he'd hate icewings.

Okay so how would Darkstalker's life play out now? One way or another he still ends up making himself immortal, BUT he also probably does so to the rest of his family as will *Cough* without consent. *cough* Whiteout and Darkstalker combined would likely become the first ancestors of all Hivewings. (Although they might look slightly different than the ones in the book, like they all have some silver and black scales on them, or maybe even have blue blood. OOHH OR EVEN PURPLE)

And with this we'll assume that Darkstalker becomes King of the Hivewings. I think sometime after, he first becomes king of the new tribe he'd start plotting how to become king of the other two. He'd probably lie like Wasp did, and say he was destined to be King of all three tribes. The other two queens would likely cast doubt, and Darkstalker might make an enchantment that lets them temporarily 'see' his 'visions'.

This enchantment instead actually shows them the two tribes collapsing without Darkstalker as king. After a bit more mauling, and bickering I think they'd give up their crowns to Darkstalker. (There might still be some leafwings who don't support Darkstalker and resist his rule.) I don't think that the segregation between the tribes would be NEARLY as bad as in the books. Because- Darkstalker wouldn't technically have any personal grudges against the tribes. He only hated Icewings in the books because of his father. And in this What if, I think that Acrtic would be a better father, not great but not as bad as he was in the books.

After taking control of the two tribes he would set his sights on the land across the sea. And we're gonna pretend that all of this took 2000-ish years and wonder, What about the war?

And with that we need to look at some key differences: The Nightwings aren't trying to take over the rainforest, as they never fled to the volcano Sunny doesn't exist and Deathbringer never had to kill Tempest, talk to Sixclaws, or likely cause Gill to be captured. So what would happen?

Note: This hypothetical keeps the Nightwings and Rainwings out of the war still For one- The prophecy would be 100% different, and well- REAL And would likely have stated something about a new queen that wasn't of the royal blood line, and finding the eye of Onyx. So what would happen? Likely some sandwings find the eye of Onyx, and some of the other stolen treasure. Blister and Burn would still die. Blaze would like not tough the thing after seeing what it does. And Thorn? Probably in the crowd because the eye was found and becomes queen that way.

And what of the dragonets? None of the Skywing eggs would have been killed, and other than Sunny never existing, the others are still alive we'll say. We'll also say Orca's statue is still a problem, Gill's still alive, Crane's not dead and the war ended before she would have died. Also, Hailstorm is still Pyrite and Scarlet is still queen. Any questions? No? Okay back to Darkstalker.

Oh god I've been going at this for an hour- ANYWAY! Darkstalker would likely come to the content, leaving Whiteout in charge. Since his arrival would affect any nightwing seers there would likely be some kinda prophecy. Warning of lies of a strange nightwing.

He'd probably stay a bit, meeting with each of the tribe's queens before dropping the same lie of 'Well ya see I'm destined to rule over all the tribes, or they just crumble.' But with the prophecy warning of him, none of the tribes would buy it. Eventually he'd become frustrated and challenge the queens one by one.

They'd all refuse, (Scarlet would likely be VERY difficult). But eventually, threw a mix of enchantments and force he'd slowly start taking each crown. Although, we can't forget about the fandom's favorite animus: Turtle. And also maybe Jeraboa

But Jeraboa only ever learned of the existence of other animus because she was transported by Darkstaler to a room full of them in the books. So she'd likely have no idea bout what's going on. Turtle on the other hand? He would 100% know. And would likely flop around like a fish not knowing how to stop Darkstalker without Qibli.

And this is where this 'What if' kinda splits into a few possibilities and I don't know what one I like more

Here's a summary of my top three though, note in ideas 1 & 2 turtle has a edited version of the stick, where it only stops him from seeing futures involving him 1- The main dragonets from arch 2 all meet up somehow and work together to use Turtle's magic to take down Darkstaker (Sense he would never have met and been betrayed by Fathom he's not immune to other animus magic) 2- Darkstalker meets Winter, gives him animus magic because the Icewing wants it because SCAVANGERS, and only turtle and Qibil are left to try and stop him. And 3- Darkstalker takes over all the tribes with little issue

This would also likely affect other characters like Leaf, Ivy, Sky and Wren. But That's a whole OTHER can of worms that I'd rather not open unless I made this into an AU And I might No idea though

I'm ugh done typing because this is basically a whole rant about what would happen if just one small thing was changed in WoF

And one quick note to whoever might read ALL of this ugh thanks for listening to a random crazy fan rant about how this would change WoF as we know it.

Okay 1 Thank you for reading all of it haha XD and 2 Not sure, I think that the way they escaped mixed with how much magic he used played a part in the way he acted. He didn't seem too snappy in the winglet, and that fact is the only reason in this what if he wasn't nearly as bad, but still wasn't great.

Okay I think I gotta few ideas: Yes maybe when Arctic finds out about Darkstalker also being an animus he might be kinda scared. But with Arctic being more clear headed he might not have had such a rocky start with Darkstalker. As for the arguments, they may have been more scarce, like a normal relationship. And remember in this 'what if' Foeslayer and Acrtic are living on pantala. And it would have been Acrtic's idea, so he might complain, but I doubt he'd be upset with Foeslayer about it.

Ah the winglets It's a book that has 4 mini stories about some characters 1 is about Starflight's sister the second is about Deathbringer the third is about Sixclaws (and to an extent Dune) and the last and 4th one is about Foeslayer and Arctic.
