the plot of sonic 2 said that tom and maddie go on vaction and leaves sonic but as soon as the go eggman is back "AND TEAMED UP WITH KNUCKLES" so sonic teams up with tails, knuckles is looking for an "EMERALD" so sonic and tails go on a journey to find the emerald before it slips into the wrong hands.

and oh boy that gives me excitement and joy in the air!!!
