This species hatches from eggs that remain dormant until the first spring rain of the new decade. The eggs are buried on the new moon just before the turn of the decade. A ceremony is held where the spots of the Landstriders glow the brightest to replace the glow of the moon and they can often be seen from hilltops by distant villages around the landstrider’s tribe lands. The eggs incubate for another year until the baby fully develops. On hatching day another ceremony is held where the elders of the tribe pass on their glow to the on coming babies after they claw their way out of the eggs and to the surface at sunset. The babies stay with the caretakers in the tribe until they fully access their ability to glow. Each Landstrider’s glow is different depending on how they feel and each emotion glows with a different hue.

A landstrider’s age is determined by the amount of scutes they have on their stomach. The older they are the fewer scutes they have. Each baby starts out with 30 scutes and two fuse every 50 years. Once the landstrider has less than 4 scutes it is considered an elder and will give their glow to the next generation of hatchlings. This is a semi open species the accents can be any color that is not your main color. You can have as many as you want and make your own but please ask before making adoptables or customs. Thank you. A visual guide will be out soon.
