LinkYou're a scientist/lab assistant in training. You've been given the opportunity to witness the creations of Lab Z- a top secret genetics lab that's supposedly given life to hybrid creatures, and you happily take it. You've been given a clipboard and pen, and have been allowed to take notes, but you've been told not to touch anything.
After a long wait in a dark waiting room, a man in a labcoat opens the door and coaxes you in. He says you're going to interact with one of their specimens, and they want you to take notes. You'll be under heavy survelance, but you're able to interact however you see fit.
He lets you into a surreal white room, and laying on a blanket surrounded by papers and crayons, you spot a catlike creature with a hard shell over her muzzle and torso.
What do you do? Do you ask to go back? Talk with the creature? It's your choice.
The creature's ears perked, and its eyes quickly followed. It tilted its head before stretching and approaching Ethan. It sat about a foot away from him and chuckled, "Not sure. Try asking the other Labcoats,"
Its voice was squeaky like that of a teenage girl, but it seemed to be older, "You have ears like mine! And a tail," She noticed, preparing to pounce on his tail.
Ethan: *his tail sways and he jots something down on his clipboard. he looks back at the creature and tilts his head* "Let's see if you know how to put that brain to use."
*holds up a drawing on his paper of three shapes: a triangle on the right, a circle in the middle, and a square on the left* "Which one is the circle?"
The creature's face lit up upon the recognition of her artistic talent, "I love drawing! I'm really good at it too!" She rushed over to gather a paper fron her little pile, "That's me, and that's the new experiment!"
The page she pointed at was covered in colorful scribbles. A stretch of the imagination showed that one looked like the creature, but the mess of black and red that she refered to as 'the new experiment' looked nothing like a creature. It looked like a mass of darkness.. But her excited and joyful attitude never skipped a beat for it.
Ethan: *blushed a little, overwhelmed by the sudden explosion of questions. He sits down on the floor* "Let me introduce myself. I'm Ethan. I'm a male fox boi. Also, I am from outside. I was sent in here to study you. Outside, well, it's a big world out there. And yes, you can play with my tail if that's what you were wondering."
The moment she finished her sentence, the door behind Ethan slid open, and the man in the labcoat quickly pulled him to his feet, "Alright, your time is up with this one. Next subject," He spoke quickly, rushing him out of the room. The man in the labcoat lead Ethan down the hall to another room that looked very similar to Aqua's room. Inside, a large beast-like being sat typing on a keyboard. His eyes were covered by a metal visor, and his facr looked like a mix of a frilled lizard and a zebra. He stood on two hooves. His arm and chest was decorated with pieces of technology that only he knew what their uses were. He looked annoyed at his appearance, "This again..?" He grumbled.
The tall creature swept his keyboard to the side and sat up straight in his chair. He looked even taller now.
"I go by Eric; we're not told exactly what we are, but I assume I am a mix of zebra and lizard- more specifically komodo dragon. Don't ask about my tech. Any other questions?" He practically rolled his eyes as he spoke.
Eric chuckled, "Are any of us? We're supposed to be, but many of us are not able to hold that charade anymore,"
He could already hear the footsteps rushing down the hallway, but he didn't seem to care.
"He's gonna keep dragging you around the lab, you know. We're not supposed to be honest with your questions, but what can they do to stop us?" The door behind Ethan slid open, and there stood the man in the labcoat, "Nothing,"
Eric bolted toward the door, slamming into the man as he darted down the hall. The man in the labcoat pressed a button on a keypad near the door, and Eric came crashing down. Electricity buzzed through the air, and out of sight, Eric shouted in pain. Silence soon suffocated the room.
"My apologies, Ethan. He can be a little dramatic. Are you ready for the next subject?" He was already leading Ethan to the next room.
"Nevermind him. He'll be fine, he does this on a near-weekly basis."
Ethan was pushed into another room, identical to the previous two. Inside, a little boy sat cris-cross on a cot in the corner of the room. He was playing with something glowing in his palms. He looked human with brown, messy hair and pale brown eyes; though, his clothes were scorched in patches of dark.
The boy looked up at Ethan and gave a toothless smile. He'd lost his front four teeth, but that's normal for his age. "Hello, sir!" He spoke through a lisp.
Upon closer inspection, it could be seen that the boy's palm was engulfed in flames. He didn't seem bothered by it though. He let the fire lick his fingers.
The boy held both of his hands out, the flame dancing between his palms. It crawled up his wrists and bit at his sleeves, "I caught fire again. It's not as bad as last time, though." He pulled his arms back to himself. The way he shifted the position of his arms allowed for the flames to fade back into his palms.
The boy approached Ethan, but once he noticed the fear in his eyes, he recoiled. The boy sat back down on his cot and leaned over the side to dip his hands in a bucket of what looked like oil. The flame immediately sizzled to silence, "Sorry, sir.." He muttered, a heartbroken tone overtook his shaky voice.
"No one likes my fire. No one except Eric," He pouted, wiping the oil off of his hands and onto the sheets.
