ok so i am explaining bird feet for u guys cause its very interesting to literally only me the diagram of the anisodactyl foot in the bottom right is showing the bones of the toes. number one is the hallux, and is similar to the big toe on a human. the other toes are numbered based on the number of phalanges they have minus the claw. this is here so u can compare it to the other diagrams. i use toe 1 and hallux interchangeably just note first is anisodactyl. anisodactyl is the most common foot type, where toes 2, 3, and 4 are in the front and the hallux is in the back. many birds have this type of foot! like crows...

next up is zygodactyl (my favorite!!!). zygodactyl feet have toes 2 and 3 in the front, and the hallux and 4 in the back. parrots have this type!!!!!! so do woodpeckers :D some birds like ospreys and owls are semi zygotal, meaning they can reverse the 4th toe (my oc, bird, has this type hehehehehe which is kinda funny because theyre based off of a turkey vulture who has anisodactyl foot type so its not rlly accurate... but its the one my birds at home have so) then is syndactyl... this is like anisodactyl but fingers 2 and 3 are fused. (the human condition called syndactyly is how everyone on flipanim draws hands smh my head) bee eaters n kingfishers have this type! finally on the list is pamprodactyl now this ones pretty cool. they can rotate their hallux towards to have all toes in the front! this is useful when they need to hold their body up better. some swifts have this type!!!! so they can hold onto cliffs n stuff better :3
