Yes! I have 2 characters on there, Kaoru who uses dual blades and Ginseng who uses a gunlance

I'm really into the gunlance, I once killed a great jagras in less than 5 minutes with the gunlance once!

Its not a very hard monster to beat actually! It's the first large monster you get to fight in the game

It is! There's many different monsters like the Great Jagras, the Anjanath, the Kulu Ya-Ku, the Paolumu, and many more! The story revolves around the hunters trying to capture the elder dragon Zorah Magdaros, a giant elder dragon with a volcano on its back

Oh yeah! Theres also a wide variety of weapon types to choose from! Like the hammer, the longsword (WHICH IS CONTROVERSIAL IN THE COMMUNITY), the lance, the gunlance, the swaxe/switch-axe, charge blade, dual blades, sword and shield, greatsword, light and heavy bowguns, bow, and hunting horn

The longsword is controversial because the whole fandom thinks that everyone who uses it is a weeaboo, and they depend more on dealing damage than weakening the monster. Tbh I don't really mind what weapon people use as long as they aren't an ass

You can get more points, but not only that, it also helps you get more hits on the monster and prevents it from running away, depending on which parts of the monster you break

Also, some monsters can have their tail severed, like the Pukei-Pukei, the first flying wyvern you hunt in the game
