Chapter 6 Forget About Me, Just Keep Going Twenty minutes into class on my first day and I can't wait to start training. “Take out a piece of paper and write down your motive on why you want to be a hero, it can be for any reason” Aizawa said as papers rustled against papers. “A motive?” I repeated to myself in my head. I started to think, tapping my finger nail on the desk a few times. I looked Aizawa in the eye as if telling him “I got nothing”, then I looked at Todoroki-Kun. I looked back at Aizawa, and he glanced at me, to Todoroki, then back to me as if telling me something.

“I think I know what my motive is for now,” I thought to myself. “My motive is to protect Master Shouto,” I said under my breath so that no one could hear me. I started to write it down “My motive, is to protect Shouto Todoroki at all costs, life and death, freedom and slavery Nebae Azumane”

I wrote my name at the bottom so that I could turn it in. I turned to look out the window, dark clouds swirling in the sky, was it clouds? No, it was smoke, but why. Flashbacks flew in and out of my head. The fire of my old home, my parents, my life, quirkless. My eyes watered thinking of these things. I stood up, chair pushed out and still looking at the window. My peers turned to look, I looked at Midoriya, my eyes fogging up, and looked outside where the smoke got darker and filled the sky.

“Mr. Aizawa, Smoke” I paused. “Lots of it” I said again, holding back my feelings for I knew my feelings don't matter to anyone else. Aizawa turned to look out the window, his face became stern and I saw his fists clench up. “Students, turn in the papers to me in the bin up here. You have a free period, I will be right back” He said as a sternly left the class room. I looked at the door hoping he would be back soon. In the corner of my eye, I saw Todoroki-Kun looking at me. He was calm, but looked worried.

“Everyone settle down” Iida said, doing hand motions to try to get their attention. “I know the evacuation routine,” He said, grabbing papers from a file cabinet. “I have to do this when the teacher leaves the classroom” He said hoping it would calm down some people. “ You will all be paired up in groups of three” he said looking up from the paper to make sure everyone was present. “There will be seven groups. Group one, Kouji Kouda, Mezou Shouji, and Rikidou Satou, stay together and exit the building” Iida commanded as they stood up walking together in the hall. “Group 2, Ochako Uraraka, Tsuyu Asui, and Izuku Midoriya stay together. Group 3, Hanta Sero, Kyouka Jirou, and Denki Kaminari. Group 4, Mashirao Ojirou, Yuuga Aoyama, and Fumikage Tokoyami. Group 5, Mina Ashido, Momo Yaoyorozu, and Shouto Todoroki. Group 6, Katsuki Bakugou, Eijirou Kirishima, and Nebae Azumane. Group 7, Myself, Minoru Mineta, and Tooru Hagakure” said Iida as everyone teamed up evacuating into the halls.

Team 6, Bakugou, Kirishima and myself were the last group out of the classroom. Bakugou insisted we go into the other hall to the other exit so it's not so cramped. It was empty, the hallway was. Something felt off, like we were not the only ones here. “Bakugou-Kun?” I asked as we walked to the exit. “What do you want” he replied and glared at me. “Forgive me, but why should we head this way while everyone else is headed the other way?” I asked. “This hallway will get us to where we need ten times faster than walking around the school” He scoffed.

I stopped walking, then so did Kirishima and Bakugou. “You kids are headed the wrong way” I heard a voice, I thought it was in my head but it looked like Kirishima and Bakugou could hear it as well. I stepped closer to the wall thinking it will be a better idea to back away and let them handle it. I felt someone pull at my neck. “Well, well, well” the voice said. “Azumane-San, don’t move” Kirishima yelled, turning his quirk on. “Tomura Shigaraki let her go!” he yelled. “That name, I have heard it before” I thought to myself. “Take one step and I will lay my fifth finger on her neck, and she will die right here and now” Shigaraki said.

Kirishima stopped walking towards me. “You damn bastard!” Bakugou yelled “Back away,” Shigaraki said, holding my neck tighter. My eyes started to water, it was getting harder to breath. Kirishima backs away but towards the door. “He might be going to go get help” I thought hopefully to myself, as I find myself struggling to breath. I start to pull on his hands for air. “I wouldn’t struggle now” he says as he moves his hands across my neck picking one up at a time. “Bakugou-Kun” I say, struggling for words. “Forget about me, just keep going” I say as I look him in the eye. “You better listen to her kid” he said as two more villains I could recognize find their way into the hall.

“Leave, If I die” I paused trying to catch my breath. “I die, but hopefully someone will come to save me” I say before catching a breath of air. “Bakugou!” I hear Kirishima say as he comes through the exit. “I brought Iida, Midoriya, and Todoroki,” he says, I look in the corner of my eye to see the four of them standing in the exit. “Azumane-San!” I hear Midoriya yell, as he starts to run towards me. “STOP!” I yell holding back the tears of anguish. “I will be fine, just don't come for me now” I say as he stops. I look at Todoroki-Kun. “I’m sorry” I whisper without using my voice. I felt myself get thrown towards the wall, my head hit it and I fell to the floor. I hear them all yell my name. “Azumane-San!” as they all rush towards me, it all suddenly went black.
