Sunny day. Coffee shop- Saturday. He walked in. His name was void-but- unlike the rumors- he treated everyone quiet kindly. The baristas were hesitant to take his order and were just scared of him. The manager- a cold man came up to him and asked him to leave. He was confused- and tried to ask why- but the manager was too worked up to care. Wwyd

Jane sat there stirring her straw around in her drink, watching the manager yell at void for a moment.
it wasn’t her business to interfere, yet she could kinda sense that maybe something was to be done
Someone had to do something.
Yet she tussled around the question in her mind
“Sir- what’s wrong?” Void asked.
“ you! Get out of my shop! You’re scaring away business and employees!”
“I- I’m sorry- I just want some tea and one of those cookies- I meant no harm/“
It was then
The question was answered
“Hey!!”, Jane raised her voice for a moment to interrupt the two, “Let the guy have his milk and cookies, he isn’t harming anyone.” She let out a scoff of sass, and looked at the manager with annoyance
Void looked at her in surprise. The manager growled , then took his order, charging him double, but he said nothing
“Hm!” She nodded with satisfaction taking a sip of her drink
But couldn’t keep an eye off of the guy everyone’s been shivering about
Yeah it kinda seemed awkward, her just staring at void like he was a some being she’s never seen before, not out of fear and disgust, but curiosity.
Kinda ignoring all the red flags she was told and was fluttering around her head, she turned to him and opened her mouth, then closed it for a moment, trying to tell him something, but didn’t have the right way of wording and courage
He sat at a table near her with his tea and cookies. The people at the table next to him abruptly got up and left
She looked at him and kinda laughed
Oldly enough she found it funny, comical, like something you’d see happen to a quirky kid at lunch in a new school in some sort of movie
She kinda just stared at him for a while still
Just staring
He wasn’t bothered at all. He was used to people staring at him. He sipped his tea as he scrolled through his pgobe

With a shrug and a thought of ‘why not’
She went over to were he sat and casually sat across from him at the table
“I’m not ganna blow up if I sit by you right?” She asked him, in both fear and humor, she was obviously joking but she desperately needed reassurance
She sighed
“Good. So, you don’t really have much of a good reputation, do you?-“ she asked, kinda in a ‘hah you’re a loser’ way
He sighed. “ no- not really. I haven’t really done anything bad- but- people have their superstitions- “ he shrugged
“Figured.” She told him, “No offense, but you look like you couldn’t hurt a fly.”
He sighed. “And I wish that were true-
I was taught a lot of self defense and battle techniques. One of the places that raised me wanted to use me and my skill and magic as a weapon” quiet
“Wow, you are very open about your personal life to strangers.” She pointed out, somewhat sounding rude, but it wasn’t intentional
She giggled
“That is the saddest thing I’ve ever heard.” She continued to giggle
“Don’t worry I’ll try to keep you company.” She smiled at him
She stopped kinda feeling awkward
“So uh, do you….come here often?” She asked him, stirring her straw around her drink
“Nah, to be honest, the people here are a but too judgmental.” She told him with a shrug
“Yeaahhh-“ she looked down again, she didn’t know how to keep the conversation alive
“Do you know any spells?” She asked him, “you know, with your magic stuff-“
He nodded quietly. “I prefer not to use it though. Freaks people out. “
“I freak people out.” She said in childish voice
“So what kinda stuff can you do with it?” She asked in her regular tone
“Worst I could do is make the city cave in on itself with a flick of the hand “ casual
If I’m being honest if it was cannon Jane she’d probably have this concerning reaction of “that’s kinda hot.”))
She blinked in surprise “woah.”
She blinked for a moment
Looked quickly to the side then back at void as she spoke “for what?”
“Oh no problem dude,” she said casually, “after all what are friends for!” She shrugged, now claiming him as her friend, she was fully aware that he had no consent in the decision she made but she didn’t really care
She smiled back
“You know what, you aren’t as bad you say you are….” She waved her free hand a circle, implying that she wanted him to finish the sentence by telling her his name
“Jane, Jane harmonica, your friendly neighborhood human instrument!” She smiled at him brightly
“Wowie, feels like forever since I’ve said that-“ she said more to herself than void
Then stuck her hand out to void for him to shake it

She smiled, retracting her hand
“Well, looks like you aren’t as bad as people say void”
“Wait no! Not like a like ‘no you!re not’ more like a uh- uh- a ‘no you’re not bad’ you know??-“ she awkwardly
She wasn’t the best with her words, obviously
“I- Eh- uh-“ she was trying to explain more but couldn’t
“I’m really really sorry-“ she said putting her head down on the table
She smiled happily lifting her head up completely
“Awe, thanks you’re so sweet!”
She smiled back, which soon faded into an expression of boredom
He swallowed. “Is it okay- ah- can I- can I have your number?
Her expression snapped into a slightly flustered shock
“Oh!- Uhm, y-yeah sure!!” She told him pleasantly, giving him a closed eye smile her cheeks lightly rosey
He made a contact for her , texting her so she would know his number
“Yep, all clear!” She told him looking down at her phone
She sent him back ‘:3’
She smiled back
Looking down at her phone to read something, then stood up and scoffed
“Hey sorry I gatta go, my dumb brother’s about to burn the house down.” She said it like it was a regular thing as she collected her things
