Well first of all. I'm not joining your gang. A woman actually did pass the area 51 gate while the guards were watching her. However the guards didn't really care since it was about more than 5 miles to the actually base of area 51. And also, jail does exist. Military does exist. We only want to know what's in area 51 BECAUSE we're not supposed to be there. Why do you think kids in horror movies always go into the one abandoned back room where they're NOT supposed to be? Curiosity killed the cat.
I'm also glad that there wasn't a real humanitarian event. It just would have been bad. The small crowd outside of area 51 was pretty much just a little party and nothing too extreme. And anyways they had a public set date for it so I'm sure they realized that area 51 guards were prepared for the oncoming event.
However, I do have a strange theory on why there wasn't any actually storming of area 51:
It actually had happened, however it made so many things fall apart and die. Everyone on earth was mentally and psychically (without notice) transferred to a different reality where area 51 didn't happen, and all you ended up with was a small crowd. Now don't ask me how to get back to the other reality, but if you do find your way back to it be careful.

A Quiet Place
These monsters and many others could've come out from area 51. For all we know area 51 could be using a force field to imprison these monsters away from us. We could've made our own grave for a lot of people breaking into area 51. Just...it's alright to explore, but please, if your not supposed to be somewhere, don't go in there.
