Duskpelt had two kits. Minnowkit, the cat with folded ears, he was born deaf. He had gotten greencough very Young and died. Hopkit, was born without her front two legs and her left eye. She was strong and wanted to move around, even with her disabilities. She had been killed by a fox who had gotten into the camp, as she could not run away.

Duskpelt and smalltail, her mate, were distraught. She found herself stating down the hill they resided upon and wished for something. Only moons later the clan found frostkit and hailkit, two kits who had been abandoned by their kittypet mother and rogue father. Duskpelt immediately takes them in to try and disguise them as hopkit and minnowkit to herself.

She was still haunted by her kit's empty eyes and watching their souls above their body, they loomed above her presenting none of their previous disabilities. They never spoke to her as the two kits walked away following another dead cat in the distance.
