It’s not like she’ll just stop after some children said things that children would say, but with the kind of day it is, she’s expecting to have more nuisances come up. It would just be the best idea to avoid as much perceived attention as possible. Jackie sighs as she passes through the opening of her little hideaway, swiftly snatching a cross necklace from a lone table beside the door frame and clasping it together behind her neck. Nothing can truly be certain, never for Jackie. But with all of the forethought she has given to this day, she expects to have it end in her favor. And if not, well, “Place Back Home” will still just remain her usual outing spot. Just a bit less fun, she’s sure, but there is nothing else to do in this dingy town. The Willow is probably named in such a way because it really does seem like the town slumps over itself.

It would be a good time to regard the surroundings again today as well. All the same people on the ground today. Some on the streets would stay in groups, especially in the cold, and usually passive. Others entirely alone, which Jackie feels is for good. She tries to avoid them as much as possible. Their jittery behavior and desperate aggression make her restless. Jackie notices one sleeping in the snow beside the convenience store, a blemished man in layers of dark thermal clothing. Her crunched steps catch his attention, and his eyes, upon opening, fastened itself onto her. The gaze appeared to be a murky green, squinting against the chill. She couldn’t really read his thoughts, but with his movements being only in his eyes, she hoped he was just watching. With quickened steps, Jackie passed by as she turned right. She ignored the quiet groans of his that shuddered in the cold. All Jackie needed to do was continue thinking elsewhere, and she could ignore it all.
