Adan got up and left, and Void seemed to relax a little. Croy sliced more slices of cake, smiling

Spirit hummed. “I’m sorry about Adan.” She said to void, who just shrugged.

She blinked. “Well… he sort of has issues. “ she said with a laugh. “ void saved his life, and he grew sort of obsessed with him. Even though they were childhood friends, it just sort of, twisted. He’s sort of bitter about Raie teaching Void how to read, because he wanted to. Adan is a librarian.” She whispered. Void didn’t hear what was going on, eating two bites of the cake and was done.

She shrugged. “Void is really stubborn about stupid things. He must really like raie.” She said with a small smile

Void laughed gently, smiling at Raie, his cheeks warm. Spirit laughed quietly. “ he doesn’t normally smile. But he’s super smiley around raie”

Exactly. Time for Void to try and fall out of love with him. He swallowed, biting his lip. “Well. Spirit and I are going out of town next week, so, if you decide you need my help, tell me before then, okay?”

He paused. “I want to give you something,” he said, reaching into his pocket.

He placed a little blue stone in his hand. “If it turns white, it means I’m hurt. If it turns black it means I’m dead. So. You’ll know if I’m okay.” He said softly.

“Spirit and I have to help with the defense system in our home town.” He explained. “ I can make walls in seconds and Spirit is incredible with technology. There’s a war between two of our neighboring cities and our home doesn’t want to be dragged into the battle.” He said simply

“I’ll try my best. “ he said stubbornly. “But… a war zone is a war zone.”

He hugged him back, squeezing him gently. “You mean a lot to me. I’ll be back. I promise.”

He held him tightly, letting out a soft breath. “Well. I should get some sleep. There’s school tomorrow, isn’t there?”

He laughed. “Sorry, i completely blanked.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck. The little stone had a faint white dot in the middle. Laughs in it picks up heartache
