some shouting could be heard from a small distance. it sounded like someone was getting beat up

there was a boy being pinned to the floor by a girl who was smaller than the boy. the girl was practically beating in his face, as the boy's nose was bleeding and his eye was bruising quickly

the boy was struggling to get her off of him, but a teacher caught sight of the fight and pulled the girl off of him. she kept trying to get him but he ran off to the nurses office. "another Sinclaire attack" some girl standing next to void sighed, her eyes wide

sinclaire was let go of and she looked enraged, soon calming down, not noticing void. most of the students gathered around had left

sinclaire turned around really fast, her bloody fists up,she then saw void and put her hands down "huh-? oh.... he was pissing me off.... so i socked him in his teeth"

"he was being a nuisance" she crossed her arms and huffed

"only to me, apparently.... people just haven't learn it seems"

"but the people who clearly don't have the balls to tamper with me are deathly afraid" she shrugged with a smile on her face

"i will though" she nodded "i've decided that we're friends! so i'm going to pay for your lunches and protect you from the assholes who think they're in charge!" she had a wide smile on her face

"mhm! i'm positive about it! trust me, the teachers here are always on my side, i clearly only get off with a warning" she smiled

"if you get the teachers i have, then it's really only if you want to. but sometimes it is a requirement, but it's really narrowed down to one or two specific books"

"you can request to get my exact schedule if you'd like. you just go to the office" she put her hand up to her face, her hand still having dried blood "i can go with you if you'd like?"

she licked her knuckle a little, then looked at void and smiled, putting her hand down "alright!"

"this way!" she began walking towards the school office

a lot of the other students kept their heads turned away from the two. sinclaire then opened the door for the office once she got there

she held the door open for him. one of the office ladies saw him "hello young man. what're you here for?"

"why of course" the woman's tone was cheery "come on in"

sinclaire walked in after him, her two weasel tails swaying softly. the woman saw sinclaire and greeted her while she was walking up to the two

the woman was an elf herself, seemingly half human as well. she had a cheery smile on her face

"thats alright! there are quite a few kids here like that. i can request tha you go into the same ELA and Social studies as Siclaire if you'd like"

"this might make you a little uncomfortable to talk about, but, you're an orphan too?" ariel asked softly

ariel looked at sinclaire "you told me that you'd tell him...". sinclaire rolled her eyes and sighed

"i did say that, yes." she sighed again "my mom died of kidney failure, then about 2 years after, my dad was murdered and i didn't find out until the day after he died. so i live in a house alone, and claim that my parents just aren't home whenever adults ask" her head was resting on the table

"thats actually kinda cool" sinclaire looked at void with a slight smile

"thats actually why i beat up that one kid this morning. because he was talking sh^t about my personal life..." sinclaire's eyes trailed off

"and it's ALWAYS the same, like, 5 kids who never shut up about it" ariel huffed angrily

the boy was trailing off a little and he had stopped staring at the table. sinclaire and ariel looked at void, absolutely flabbergasted, they couldn't believe their eyes

there was one very distinct one, where the kid was talking sinclaire down for her home life and nearly getting killed by her for talking shit

there were a couple more similar to that one, and one that was about when he found out about her personal home life

"well, he's about 3 years older than me, and if i'm correct, then i'm younger than you by a year. he looks really mean sometimes but he's really just a big'ol teddy-bear!" she smiled "which is funny, because he's something like me, with animal ears and a tail, but he's a bear"

"i think you two'd be best of friends!" she nodded "i think he comes back in about a week-"

she chuckled softly then looked at the woman, who was walking up to the two, a smile on her face

she looked a lot like raie, but she was an adult female, had brown hair and ears, and had bright orange eyes. "sinclaire!" the woman stopped in front of the two "how's it been?" she then looked at void "and who might you be young man?"

she was only around 5'8", and she had a cheery expression "nice to meet you void" she nodded with a smile "raie told me a little about you"

"he told me that he met a new friend of sinclaire's, you, and that you were pretty nice for only talking to him for a few minutes" she smiled softly "he said that something that made him a little nervous was when you paused after he said he was gay" she chuckled nervously

the small town was surrounded by trees. all the houses had simple builds and blended in with the landscape pretty well

"so, void, what do you like to do on your free time?" daliah asked kindly

"oh! you like cooking, you say? Raie loves cooking" she chuckled softly

"cooking, embroidery, painting... he's got a lot of 'girly' hobbies, i guess you could say" daliah smiled

the small group arrived at her house. daliah opened the door for the two "after you guys"

the whole house setup was cozy and pretty minimal. raie was sitting on the couch, crocheting something

raie jumped, the crocheting needle and yarn almost flying out of his hands. he looked behind himself and looked at void, sighing slightly "a scarf. i'm making a scarf" he said calmly

he looked at the yarn once more and kept crocheting. he was pretty fast at it

"doing what? the scarf or crocheting in general?" he kept looking at the scarf

"uh... i started the scarf halfway through yesterday, and i've been crocheting since I was... i wanna say 7" he didn't take his eyes off of the yarn scarf

his hands were constantly moving, and fast too. he flipped the scarf around with every finished row, a smile on his face

raie and sinclaire were talking to one another. but, along with those two voices, there was an evident 3rd person there

there was a girl the same age as void, sitting with the two, talking with them. she looked just like raie, but if he was shorter, had different eye colors, and was nearly emotionless

daliah glanced at void for a quick second "i'me guessing Ryan's out there?"

"well, raie told me that sinclaire was excited about you meeting him. it might be the same with ryan" daliah smiled sympathetically at void

"alright then" she walked over to the living room quietly

she walked back into the kitchen with the group of three behind her

"have some lunch, void" daliah smiled at him then looked at the other three "you three as well"

"hm- oh, the coloring on the grain products is slightly different. and i'm glad i caught it when i did, otherwise raie would be in a lot of pain" daliah said softly

"i'm gluten intolorent" he said calmly, looking back at void

sinclaire and ryan were on the couch eating. raie looked at void "come join us. we wouldn't want you to be left out" raie smiled at void softly

"c'mon then!" raie walked over to the couch and sat on the floor, looking at void after he took a seat

while they were talking, they made sure to include void in every topic they started up
