I would make it have an variety, and less just spiky. Make it have lines to show length. Make the hair more like waves

Make the ridges fit their personality, I always make it wavy after I am done with the ridges. Check out this one I made. It will provide a sort of example of what they might look like. Or you could reference from the book and do that. It looks amazing. It would give your OC some style. STYLE THATS HOW ME'S LIKES IT!
