A suitcase may be placed on the seat instead of one passenger
3 suitcases can be taken in the boot
A set of golf clubs takes the space of 2 suitcases
Luggage can only be taken in the boot or on a seat
i) How many taxis would be needed for two couples each travelling with 3 suitcases and 1 set of golf clubs?
Answer:2
ii) Four ladies go to play golf each with their own golf clubs. How many taxis will they need to get to the golf course?
Answer:2
iii) How many taxis will a family of 6, each with their own suitcase, need to get home from the airport?

Linki) Each taxi has 4 passenger spaces and 3 luggage spaces = total of 7 spaces. 1 couple = 2 passenger spaces. Each couple has 3 suitcases and 1 set of golf clubs = 5 luggage spaces. 1 set of golf clubs = 2 suitcase spaces. 1 taxi can take a couple, 3 suitcases and 1 set of golf clubs, so 2 taxis are needed for 2 couples.
ii) 4 ladies (4 passenger spaces), 4 sets of clubs (8 luggage spaces) = total of
12 spaces. Minimum number of taxis is 2.
iii) Family of 6 (6 passenger spaces) with 6 cases (6 luggage spaces) = total of
12 spaces. Minimum number of taxis is 2.
