Dragon's peak. The sound of the wind slamming against the peak had woken her up. It was the tallest mountain in the mountain range. Emily, deciding that she'd rested enough, packed up her sleeping bag. She trudged onwards, using her climbing tools when necessary. She stretched her hands up, gripping the mountain fiercely. She pulled herself up using her left hand, then her right. She continued climbing. After a few minutes, she reached a place to rest. She grunted, pulling herself atop a flat ledge, taking in the view. It was absolutely stunning, watching the sunrise against the sky. It painted streaks of pink and orange across the sunrise. Emily sighed and rested on the ledge for a moment, then continuing. Her blood-red hair blew out behind her, her purple eyes narrowed in concentration. Her white pupils watched where footholds and handholds may be.

As you might be able to tell, Emily was not a regular 15-year-old girl. If you couldn't tell by the way I described her peculiar eyes. She was an adventurer, an explorer. Nobody knows what happened at her birth-- nobody that is alive now was there. She was orphaned by a group of assassins set out to kill her father for his money. Her mother happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. They stabbed her, too, to leave no witnesses. This happened when Emily was at the age of about three. She didn't remember anything she hadn't told the police. Emily fought to overcome her emotions and focus on climbing. For Alise.

Alise was Emily's best friend. She accepted Emily for who she was. They spent all their free time together. Alise was awesome. She never started at Emily's eyes, and she never gaped at Emily's unnatural abilities. Yep. Totally awesome. She was constantly called out of school to have doctors puzzle over her eyes. Once, they offered to let her have contacts to make her eyes look normal. She refused. If people didn't like her as she was, that was their problem, not hers. Why should she change to affix to the needs of other people? Especially people that hated her, and that she hated back. She fought back tears as she remembered those years of hatred, fighting her emotions as she was fighting the gale now. All those years of bullying, and still she was the odd one out. She would never fit in, never be the person she wanted to be. She choked back a sob and focused her energy on climbing.

She reached one of her callused hands up atop a ledge, pulling herself up. She slowly pulled herself atop Dragon's peak. She was out of breath-- and the thin atmosphere didn't help either. She glared at the sun, watching it slink behind the clouds of the oncoming hurricane. She'd known for a while now when a hurricane would strike the Dragon's peak. She knew and grinned at the sight of it. She had heard legends of being on dragon's peak, in the eye of a hurricane. One would be blessed with the visit of dragons. The passing into their realm was like no other. But Emily had to survive first. She gritted her teeth, her face set with determination. In a few minutes, the hurricane would be there. A sharp pain erupted in her head. She crumpled to the ground, her head spinning. She couldn’t take this pain. She looked fearfully at the clouds. Would they think she was unworthy of the dragon realm?

Her weakness was unfortunate, but maybe she could make it up to them. She stood up shakily. The pain was still ripping through her, and she tried to fight it back. Suddenly, a gale wind swept over Emily, sweeping her off her feet and throwing her off of the mountain's peak.

[ Yes this is a series about dragons. But Emily is a human. And this is basically a Pilot idk? It depends on how people react to this if I'll post more.]
