blood is more viscous than water but its still very much a liquid and acts like one until it coagulates or dries (which takes a little while depending on the amount) depending on the wound the blood will flow differently as well (explosion i assume would be similar to popping a balloon with water, but things like gashes or cuts can have varying levels of gushing or flowing depending on if it damages, for example, an artery or a vein)

If you are trying to animate blood, don't think of water, think of maple syrup or honey, but red. Just not as thick as honey. I'm not sure if that helps, but blood is thicker, it leaves stains, and it isn't smooth like water. Don't make blood rounded all the time. Slow movements in blood will usually have a round calm shape. If someone is exploding or blood is moving in an aggressive or fast pace, make it more rigid shaped. Sharp kind of.

SoulessCarnage2 is very good attention blood, take a look at his work. Although his is very smooth and goopy, blood is a lot more like that than water. Like melted chocolate.
