LinkI've been asked this before, and I wanted to talk about it again because lately a lot of people haven't been very understanding with the different way my brain functions.
ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, is a disorder that is fairly common in kids but frankly, doesn't get the attention it deserves. This disorder can cause one's attention span to be very short, resulting in forgetfulness, easy distraction, and disinterest in tasks.
Because of my ADHD, I have a unique learning style that tends to get misunderstood and neglected. Rather than paying constant attention, I learn better when drawing or listening to music, generally seeming like I'm not paying attention. However, paying direct attention has the opposite effect on me as opposed to a "normal" learning style. By watching and giving my undivided attention, I naturally become very upset and clouded, which can even escalate to breakdowns. This also applies to when I'm told to stop doing something, which automatically makes me stressed-

Linkand angry, even pushing me as far as to lash out or hurt myself. Sometimes even just being called on in front of a class can make me start shaking or crying.
Another thing is working without breaks. When I work too much without breaks, I begin to get a really bad headache and can't think again for a long period of time. This means that when I work, I require frequent doodle breaks or background music.
Most of my peers and teachers don't understand this, and call it "overreacting" or "not a real issue." But it really is. And people have to understand this. Everyone learns different.
On a different note, it also affects my personal life. I find it hard to focus on a daily basis, and can space out for as much as 1-50 minutes at a time.
I also experience things called "hyperfixations", in which I will be obsessed with a certain topic or franchise for anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 months. While I have a hyperfixation, I will constantly think of my hyperfixation and will verbally associate things with it constantl

Link-y. During a hyperfixation, I ask that no one makes fun of me or anything because I can't really control it! ^^"
Uhh thanks for coming to my Ted Talk lol
I've found the best way to describe mine is, a conveyor belt stuck at a setting too high. My thoughts when put into word form may be incomplete or unfiltered, and due to the stress of so many thoughts going through that faster than they should, I often get agitated very easily when I'm told to do something else when that's what I'm already trying to get done.
Oh yeah, and the anxiety and depression added onto it makes my worth ethic and ability to focus even worse. My anxiety makes me stressed so much easier, and my depression bogs down my energy most days. But there are a few days when I do have energy! Sadly I'm rarely allowed to capitalize on this and do things I want, and hear "wow you have energy today, that's not normal" like damn way to point it out lol
