LinkPeople say they're proud to be thesel es, specifically things that in the past the would have, or have, been ashamed of.
The problem is that shame and pride are not a binary. It's not, how many suggest, either pride or shame. I am not proud of my sexuality and whatnot for the same reason I'm not ashamed of it.
I didn't do it.
I was born like this, it's not an achievement, so why the hell should I b d proud?

LinkI don't quite understand that either, In a way it seems like a statement to show off to me, but i suppose it is an act of defiance against people who disagree with them. Though it really just draws need attention their way

LinkMaybe its not being so much proud of it as it is being proud of not being ashamed of it.

LinkYeah, the prominent LGBT stuff allseems very "HEY EVERYONE, WE'RE DIFFERENT" completely going against all drives for us to be treated the same as everyone else.

LinkEh, i think it really only seems that way because those people are proclaiming it and other people just aren't so you don't hear from them. The lgbt people i know don't do anything like that.

LinkI mean, like, the whole point of pride parades seems to be to make LGBT people look as stereotypical and deviant as possible.
