This is Northpaw/Fire When he was a kit he grew up really close with his sister, Southkit, and his best friend, Gingerkit. When they were made apprentices he was the most eager to learn and fight for his clan. One day while on a border patrol they were attacked by a badger. Northpaw threw himself in front of Gingerpaw to protect her, but in the process, he was badly scarred losing his front paw and sigh in one of his eyes. In the medicine den, he grew bitter and resentful at himself because he could not save himself. His family hardly visited, believing that he would not survive and it was better not to get to close to him. when he was finally healed his mentor only let him do apprentice duties but he would always sneak out at night to train and one night he caught the eye of a Dark Forest warrior by the name of Maggottail. Maggottail told Northpaw he knew what it was like to be turned down and not believed in because of a disability. He offered Northpaw training and guidance.

Northpaw eagerly accepted and Maggottail trained him every night in his dreams teaching him fierce and forbidden moves that only the most seasoned elder should know of. The moons passed and Northpaw grew stronger and more bitter at his clanmates for treating him like a piece of crow-food. Even his sister and Gingerpaw strayed farther away from him. All the time he was in the medicine den Gingerpaw and Southpaw grew closer and closer, causing jealousy to become prominent in Northpaw's heart. You see Northpaw loved Gingerpaw and wanted to be with her but Gingerpaw seemed to think otherwise.

Soon a battle came between a neighboring clan and Northpaw was reluctantly placed in the battle patrol by his leader, Meadowstar, they arrived at the rival clans camp and Northpaw fought with rage and passion using all the moves he had learned from Maggottail over the seasons. When the battle ended his clanmates were thoroughly surprised that this disabled apprentice no one thought much of had fought better and harder than any of them. Meadowstar saw her mistake and made him and the other apprentice's warriors once they arrived back at camp. Northpaw became Northfire after his burning passion for his clan, Southpaw became Southpetal after her gentle disposition, and Gingerpaw became Gingerroot after her strong loyalty to her clan. Northfire saw this as his chance to tell Gingerroot how he felt, so he went up and told her. Gingerroot turned him down saying she had eyes for someone else.

This hit Northfire harder than any battle wound and cause the jealousy and resentment inside him to grow. A few seasons later Northfire was on a patrol with Southpetal and Gingerroot who were laughing and talking ahead of him. Southpetal leaned into Gingerroot with a content purr and Gingerroot intertwined their tails.

That was when Northfire snapped, he leaped in front of his sister and love and started growling at them about how they always ignored him and how Gingerroot had hurt his heart to the extreme and how she had no idea what it felt like. Southpetal looked startled at the sudden outburst but Gingerroot got defensive and that just angered Northfire more, so much that he pounced onto Gingerroot claws unsheathed and pinned her down his claws slightly piercing her neck. He heard Maggottail's voice whispering in his ear to kill her and he did.

After he did he stared down at her broken body in horror, Northfire then turned and sprinted out of the territory with tears streaming out of his eyes trying to ignore his sister's cries of anguish. He eventually collapsed in a river hoping that it would whisk him away and send him the Dark Forest Where he thought he belonged. When he opened his eyes he saw that instead of being in a gloomy forest, which he expected, he was in a warm sunny den lying on a soft bed of moss. In front of him was a beautiful pale purplish-blue gray she-cat with a stump for a tail.

The gray cat told him that her name was Elderberry and she was a loner. He asked why she had saved him and she said that it was because he was in need of saving. Elderberry said that he could stay here until he was fully healed, Northfire just grunted in return. Many moons passed and Northfire started to fall in love with this charming stray, one day he was sitting by the river he had been saved from, thinking about his past and Elderberry came out and asked him what was wrong. He sighed and told her about his past and all the bad things he had done. When he finished he thought that she would cast him out but instead, she pressed up against him and told him that it would be alright and the past was the past. Northfire froze but quickly fell into the embrace, a season later Elderberry was heavily pregnant with Northfire's kits and Leafbare was bad. Northfire decided that the only way they could survive was to go back to Meadowclan. When he arrived he the clearing was shocked to see him.

But no one was more shocked than Southpetal who expecting kits of her own, Northfire tentatively took a step forward and Southpetal ran as fast she could to him and pressed her cheek against his crying tears of joy. Northfire pressed back against her and he whispered that he was sorry into her ear. Southpetal stepped away and nodded and went to go back to stand by Dewscar who was presumably her mate. Northfire turned to Meadowstar and asked to please be let back into the clan, Meadowstar hesitated but agreed and Elderberry was ushered into the nursery. A moon later Elderberry gave birth to three healthy kits, two she-cats, and a tom. They named them Bisonkit, Glowkit, and Gingerkit. Northfire died in a later battle defending his mate and kits who were warriors by then, he died an honorable death and StarClan forgave him for his mistakes and he now rests happily in StarClan watching over his kits.
