It seems like you have a toxic relationship you need to end in some way shape or fashion my guy.
This isn't okay in any way, nor is this a normal friendship/relationship, my best recommendation is to end that friendship/relationship AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. He or she is trying to do it for attention and has probably no intention of stopping, so it will be better both mentally and physically to stop texting them and never talk to/text/call them again.
I know it will be hard to ditch a friend like this, but it will be better for the both of you.
Make sure to tell their other friends about this so they don't get into what you have been going through as well, and if you two go to the same school/place you volunteer at/work place, make sure to tell your principal/boss/the place you volunteer at as well.
Make it loud and proud, make sure they get what's going on and maybe they will do something about it as well.
This is very dangerous stuff, and if they keep doing it and someone tells you, soon nobody will believe what he or she says anymore, making this sort of domino effect.
Thank you for telling us this. People can do terrible things for attention and it must be stopped as soon as possible before they do it to more people. Spreading awareness about the terrible things they do seems just as bad, but as soon as you do it so much help and advice comes pouring in to the point where it's rewarding.
So be honest with the internet, and if it get more hate than good, that's okay; do what you think is better for you, not other people.
