Really depends on what universe.. wizard or a mage ( no gender separate names required ) has an association with the arts of Arcane, Frost and Fire.. not just Frost and Fire and Arcane.. they can summon elemental beings ( Frost majorly and Fire ) and can cast Alteration/ Conjuration/ etc.

Warlocks and Witches have an association with dark magic and demonology ( summons demons ).. majorly you hear witches a lot than warlocks since in many gaming fantasy universe ( World of Warcraft, Skyrim, etc. ) will have females having to do with dark magic than males doing it.. because.. well due to many witch trials that are majorly females than males..
