her eyes glazed over, and i held her limp body in my lap. i sobbed over her body, missing the best friends i had for the 13 years of my life. my dog was gone. for good. not like the time she had run away for an hour and i couldnt find her, but this time, she had really left us. left me. i couldnt believe it at first, thinking maybe she would jump up to life and lick my face, clean away the tears. i waited, hopefully. it never came. dad said it was time to go. angrily, i had to give her poor lifeless body to the nurse wh injected her with that awful shot, to make my elder sister, my dog, the one who really loved me go away. i couldnt sob quietly anymore. my dog was gone.
