Throughout public schools across the globe, bullying has been a prominent issue to youth and young adults. This is especially in countries like the United States, where freedom of expression is more widely available and many schools allow students to wear a variety of styles and accessories. The United States is also home to a diverse population of people, ranging from many different races, religions, and identities. While diversity is very important, issues surrounding discrimination and ridicule to those who may be seen as different from others are very prominent throughout the world to this day. Though something like bullying in youth may seem insignificant compared to larger global issues, it is actually very serious. This begs the question: what is bullying? Well, there are many forms, including physical, social, emotional and cyberbullying. In any case, bullying is very harmful, and is not taken as seriously as it should be by many. Now, why does this matter so much? Is bullying really all that harmful?
