I also remember you. We were worried sick about where you were, when someone told us a dog had been hit by a car. We rushed to the vets and there you were, lying there, a broken bones and clinging on to life. I remember that car drive. Blood was rushing out of your nose as I held my hand over your eyes, protecting them from the harsh sunlight. I remember sitting in the car, tears rolling down my cheeks.

And you. You were so old and so brave. You lived a lot longer than we expected, but when we rolled you over and saw the maggots, we knew it was time. We cleaned you up and called the vets, but you passed. Calmly and with grace. I remember sitting in my room as my mum came in to break the news. It didn’t hit me as hard because i knew it was time, but I miss you just as much as the rest.
