LinkWho wants to hear my discussion about why Elsa is the perfect example of a healthy self relationship and why the “she don’t need no man” troupe is becoming overbearing

LinkBut anyway I was thinking that the whole “I’m a powerful independent woman and I don’t need no man” woman
Has become a troupe
It was made to mock the whole “omg please save me” princess troupe..er damsel in distress troupe
But now it’s become something of its own to be mocked
I’ll use the example of the Disney movie cruella
Cinematic masterpiece in my opinion
Writhing in pain at the story line and writing thou
It kills me
It was so pretty to look at though ngl…
Once she ‘becomes’ cruella it’s sorta
Cringe..and I get it’s to mock the villains behavior in the movie
But it could’ve been soooo much better-
The entire time she’s doing these rebellious shows it’s just so cringe..oh wow she’s independent and strong!! But …it’s
It’s CRINGE.
and I’ve seen it in a lot of movies recently where the female lead is so ‘strong and independent’ it becomes hard to watch
I’m sure you can think of a character or two like that-
Now ELSA. WHY TF WOULD I BRING ELSA IN THIS??!?!
BECAUSE

LinkShe’s the PERFECT( in my opinion) example of self growth- she gets to learn herself in ways certain characters under the “strong and independent woman” troupe don’t- the most common example I could think of is a female character getting justice after being wronged, that’s where most of the troupes birth place is, and how they come to be said troupe
You get to see the leads anguish or frustration growing inside- such as in cruella- she grows so upset she wants to make the baronesses like harder-
But you don’t need that spelled out to you- OBVIOUSLY she’s angry- but she doesn’t grow from this
Neither with others in this troupe, instead they strive to be absolute perfection and we never get to see emotional growth in them
Unlike with elsa..REALLY trashy sun up here but she goes on an edgy path where she feels the need to push others away. THIS feels real- it feels raw. Towards the end of the story she leaned that it’s okay to feel the way she’s feeling and her sister is THERE to support her- we see her

LinkSlowly excepting this throughout the ending- then in frozen two she gets to understand MORE of her own emotions
Throughout this she’s not calm and collected like most of the troupe characters we see
She learns from her mistakes
The best example in frozen two is her failing to cross the rising waves with her powers over and over
We see her get frustrated yes but she doesn’t give up
I feel like in the strong and independent woman troupe
They don’t make any mistakes
Instead they do everything on their own, push EVERYONE away and strive for perfection
Elsa doesn’t do so- she tries again and again to do something- much in the way actual humans learn from their mistakes
Again- WE DONT SEE THAT IN THAT TROUPE
Elsa learns once again that- it’s okay to feel emotions. And to let other’s support her-
And
Well
I need to shower and I don’t think anyone is reading this so..bye
