LinkYou ever come out to a group of people or just slightly note you are trans and the person responds with a variation of “don’t make trans your whole personality” or “I hope you don’t make being trans your whole personality”

LinkBut while you can make the argument your sexuality doesn’t have to be used to depict who you are
Being trans is a completely different story
What does it actually mean to make being trans your whole personality and do the people who say it know what they are actually meaning

LinkGender is defined by culture, society the way you sound, dress, or act
But that sounds just like what makes up someone’s personality
Because it IS
When people say they don’t want trans to be your personality it can mean several different things
I’m not saying that it’s tasteful to walk around and tell everyone your trans but
It’s hard not to make being trans your personality well based on the definition of personality

LinkThe fact is when your writing a trans character you can make the story based around them being trans, I’m tired of this idea that writing a trans character and not making them being trans a “big issue” is the RIGHT thing
Anyone can be trans
Horrible people can be trans and great people can be trans
Some trans people don’t dive deep into there struggles and some trans people do
And being trans is a core part of who someone is

LinkHow is something that determines what you wear how you speak what you sound like how you act not supposed to be integral to who you are
Being trans is part of your personality it is your identity
Instead of saying you don’t like trans ppl making it part of there personally you can say you don’t like when trans people parade that they are trans
It won’t stop trans people from doing so but you won’t be confusing your friends

LinkIsadores main conflict is about her being trans and it made me ponder if that was bad represention, I myself don’t have a lot of conflict with my gender even though I am trans
But Isadore was my first trans female character, I wanted to use her to learn more about the trans female experience and I know other trans people who hate living as they are because they are trans

LinkAnd yes trans people can depict trans characters horribly too

LinkIsadore still has her own interests and is kind, soft spoken and knowledgeable
She is the text book european ideal representation of femininity
Obviously not all trans women look or act like this and they don’t need too
Specifically Isadore gets to look how she does because of a magical cat that can transform her
And funnily enough someone commented that they wish they had a magical cat that could do that

LinkIn my personal opinion a trans woman doesn’t have to change themselves at all to be who they are
But I saw what happened to that one person who was non-binary and called themselves a lesbian on tiktok so Atleast I know a lot of other people are vocal on there own opinion
I also feel like I’ll get backlash if I show other parts of Isadores story like her deadname, but she is a fictional character and in real life trans people have to deal with this constantly
I feel like it would be a little unrealistic to not depict it
And my favorite part is gonna be showing what most trans people do when they get misgendered

LinkThey just move on 😨
Account27[OP]
05.01.2024 09:04
LinkBecause contrary to popular clips on the internet most trans people deal w being misgendered and deadnamed everyday they don’t explode when it happens

LinkDoesn’t mean trans people don’t get hurt when they are but that’s just how life is

LinkAlso I make girly characters so Isadore is gonna be girly okay
Account27[OP]
05.01.2024 09:05
LinkEven my boy characters look girly
Account27[OP]
05.01.2024 09:06
LinkI’m not gonna draw body hair or beards or anything unless it’s other peoples characters like liders
It’s just not what I personally draw

LinkSo like if people have beef about Isadore not showing masculine features it’s ****ing magic ***** she has a magic cat
Account27[OP]
05.01.2024 09:08
LinkUnless I’m drawing her before she met the cat or when the cat isn’t affecting her
Account27[OP]
05.01.2024 09:09
LinkBecause duh she couldn’t be as feminine and girly as she is if she was just girly and feminine before or else why the hell need the magic cat

LinkIf trans ppl wanna put there opinion or correct anything I’m saying go ahead this is new territory for me
cis ppl can too I don’t really believe in the “you have to be ____ to have a opinion/say on this” bs

LinkI don’t think trans people have to dress stereotypically to be who they are
I mean the edgy persona I made was obviously very fem presenting and he’s a dude
I didn’t make Isadore sterotypically feminine because she has to be to be a “woman/transwoman” it’s because I like drawing feminine girly characters already basically what I’m saying

LinkAnd no one said shit about Isadore or how I depict her I literally am just thinking all of this to myself ‼️‼️

LinkIsadore is French ( 😨 ) btw
She looks so pretty and im curious on their backstory too! Like, how did she meet the magical cat, how would you describe her before she became trans and what made her become trans? Sorry if these are bad questions im just curious, i also read the comments above mine and i completely agree with you
The magical cat is heavily based on a species that lider made called alters or alternates ( there not like the popular alternate series Ppl see on YouTube ) Isadore has a alternate because she’s in a family, alternates can be passed down bloodlines
What made me decide to make Isadore trans was lider saying it’s usually amab that get alternates but I wanted a female or feminine character
Thought a lot of her story isn’t complete I can talk about a couple things
I don’t really think it’s as easy to write a bad trans character
There’s horrible ppl that can be trans but really what I think makes a bad trans character is when there made as a joke or based on sterotypes alone
And there are situations where trans characters can follow sterotypes without being bad characters imo

If I talk about my realization it’s when one of my friends came out to me as trans
Basically the friend always just said they were a boy but they told me that really they were a transman
That didn’t make me think about them any differently because in my mind they were still a man
But that made me think about how you don’t have to be born a man to be a man
I’ve heard stories about ppl who de transition and make it out like it’s a horror story
Actually my own sister de transitioned she was really confused ( not in a homophobic transphobic way she was a teenager dealing with a lot of gender roles )
I accepted her either way
I have to be honest at first when I said I was trans I wasn’t confident, I didn’t know if I picked the “right” reason to be trans or what makes me trans
Now I just realize I like being called a dude and that’s valid enough
Isadore fills a whole in my heart her close family is distant and doesn’t believe in family togetherness or any of that and Isadore decides to visit her distant family, which are liders ocs
She’s pretty accepting and nice, a opposite parallel to her family
Some people who experience judgement and bad parenting in there childhood grow up to instead foster others differences and accept them because they know what it’s like to get rejected or judged
