Basically- petal color is determined by what helped said petal form. Now the colors vary among the species, but for Jarchien, specifically, yellow petals where made through photosynthesis, red petals where made from meat, and white petals where made from other plants. The colors will vary between these three, as mixtures of any of the colors means it was a mix of the methods

These petals though, are indeed special, as they have quite a lot of energy stored in them. “Meat” petals are good for healing, as they contain a large number of stem cells. “plant” petals are good for reenergizing stamina. as it has a lot of glucose stored in them. “Light” petals. Are good for other forms of energy. This includes electricity and such.

Petals are also vital to the species health. If they have no petals left, then they have no way to store energy from the roots, or make new energy from the sun. So removing all of the petals would quickly starve them to death.
