LinkMy dad has muscular dystrophy, yes he is still alive but is suffering and having to go to the hospital once a week.

Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a group of muscle diseases that results in increasing weakening and breakdown of skeletal muscles over time.[1] The disorders differ in which muscles are primarily affected, the degree of weakness, how fast they worsen, and when symptoms begin.[1] Many people will eventually become unable to walk.[2] Some types are also associated with problems in other organs.[2]

My mum has hypothyroidism, which is where your thyroid stops working, mainly due to stress. It runs in our family. She has to have a tablet every day, to keep her thyroid alive, and if she doesn't, well..... she'll die (I think).
And your thyroid does a lot of things but I'm too lazy to LIST those things
