“Trench, I would advise you to gather a small army to capture Isthmus, find Cerith and help make her the queen. He will try to gather an army himself but he won’t get far without me.” Cero said as they dragged him back. “Why are YOU now helping us?” Polyp asked. “I realize now that Isthmus is nothing but a traitor to the queen. He must be stopped.” Cero’s eyes began to show that bloodthirsty hate, this time toward Isthmus.
Isthmus burst into the throne room where all the worried guards and soldiers were. They perked up a bit but then gaped in horror and tried to swim away. “I AM YOUR KING YOU FOOLS! CORAL IS DEAD AND I HAVE TAKEN HER PLACE!” Isthmus roared. “Now who will join me?” Isthmus sat on the throne and waited for anyone who wanted to join him. A few scared looking guards came, two other princes, the queen’s advisor, and a few other soldiers. “And those who don’t will not like the consequences…” about half of the room, which was filling with curious SeaWings, went to his side. The other half had run out to find Cerith and Trench.
Trench and Polyp found Cerith and her guards. They talked about the object and how Isthmus would be after it. They told her about their adventure at the Island palace. “Wow… it sounds like this will be a battle for the throne.” she said solemnly.
“Your Majesty! Trench! Polyp! Isthmus has taken the throne! He is gathering a following and threatening those who don’t!” The head of the guard swam up with about 20 others. “We need to gather an opposing force. Will you join?” Cerith asked. “By life or death we are loyal to the crown of your Majesty.” he said.
They all made their way to the throne room, but had difficulty getting in as the room was full of commoners. “Everyone clear out!” Cerith glowed. They all moved, a few of them bowing and others scoffing. “Isthmus, my own brother. I can’t believe you! Look what you’ve done! You killed your mother, and pronounced yourself king! You can't even do that!” Cerith swam up to him. “Well Darkstalker di-” “I DON'T CARE WHAT DARKSTALKER DID!” some of the guards got-
- scared. They could see Coral in Cerith now.
“Trench” Polyp gave the object to Trench. He looked at the cylinder capsule and nodded. “Well then if you want the throne so bad then TAKE IT!!!” Isthmus laughed. It was in that moment that Cero broke free of Polyp and Trench’s grasp. He slapped Isthmus in the face with his long tail. Isthmus stared at Cero. there was a moment of tense silence before Isthmus’ and Cerith’s armies began to fight. It started with a slap and ended with 13 bodies and a whole lot of blood.
The only thing really worth hearing about the battle is that Trench dropped the object when he was fighting the queen’s advisor. Trench was holding the small capsule tightly in his claw when the advisor kicked back his neck and tore the capsule out of his claw. The advisor was attacked again before he could grab the capsule containing the origin of this mess. Cero stayed out of it mostly, and Cerith battled Isthmus until her army overtook Isthmus. Isthmus didn’t have many trained soldiers, and many of them didn’t even like him, so they either died or joined Cerith.
“Well played Cerith, I see that you have defeated my army. You can kill as many of them as you want, but you won't touch me.” Isthmus grinned at the tattered Cerith and her army. Cerith said nothing. Isthmus swam over to Trench, who was struggling to grab the object. Isthmus picked it up and kicked Trench’s red claw off of it. Trench fell back in his cloud of blood.
“I think you will have a hard time defeating me without THIS!” he held up the object. Everyone gasped. Cerith looked worried, but Polyp put on a subtle smile. “And now, you will all meet your DOOM! Sorry but not sorry.” Isthmus greedily tore the cap off of the capsule, eyes glowing with excitement. But his bliss did not last long. As soon as he saw what was inside of the small rusted capsule his glee turned to rage.
“What kind of a sick joke is this?” the confused dragon asked. “Well your eel of a Highness, as you can clearly see there was nothing in it to begin with! Which means that I almost died for NO REASON! Now, it’s time for you to feel what I felt. But this time, there won’t be anyone to save you!” Cero lunged at Isthmus and would have killed him if Cerith and Polyp hadn’t held him back. Isthmus didn’t flinch. “TELL ME THE MEANING OF THIS!” Isthmus yelled.
“Your Majesty, I believe that the animus has enchanted the object to be invisible.” the advisor advised. “What animus? WHO?” Isthmus slashed his claws through the water as he realized that they never found out who the animus was.
Polyp followed the capsule and waited until Isthmus turned it upside-down. She then enchanted the object to fly into her claw and become visible again. Noone noticed as a small shiny object glinted as it flew by. The moment it touched Polyp’s claw it began to glow and Polyp received two visions.
The first vision was of a pale, tall SeaWing animus raising a magnificent palace out of a rock. The next was of that same dragon covered in blood. Use wisely or he will be your fate. Polyp blinked and saw the dragon no more, but she didn’t find the reality to be much better. Everyone was staring at Polyp’s claw, which was glowing with the animus enchanted scale of Prince Albatross.
“Polyp. Little innocent Polyp. Give me the object now, won't you?” Isthmus slowly flicked towards her. “Why would I give this to you?” she clutched the scale tighter in her claws. “Polyp, if you give me the scale, you could be queen.” Isthmus said. “Never. I would rather die!” she stepped back. “My wonderful advisor.” “Yes your Majesty?” the queen’s snake of an advisor glowed. “Give this young animus her wish.”
The advisor pulled out a chipped blade and slowly advanced toward Polyp, who stood still. Nobody quite knew what happened next. There was a blinding flash of blue light surrounding a bloody dragon, then there was another smaller flash which no one could distinguish, and before anyone opened their eyes the advisor was dead, and Trench stood bleeding in front of them. “Wow, I never thought i’d say this but I’m actually glad Coral made me get this tail spear.” he scratched off a barnacle from the carved coral spear.
Trench!” Polyp bolted up and squeezed him. “You’re the best brother a dragon could have!” “T-thanks P-Polyp. I- n-need t-to b-breathe!” Trench gasped as Polyp released him. “Sorry.” she said. “It’s fine.” “Trench! Oh I’m so glad you’re alive!” Cerith burst out.
“Well your Majesty, I’m sorry, but you’ll have to do more than that to get rid of me.” Trench bowed. “Aww, now isn’t that sweet?” Isthmus grabbed the advisor’s knife. “It’s really too bad, Trench can’t save you this time.” Isthmus threw the dagger straight at Polyp’s heart.
