Linkanybody?
Haleey sat next to Shinji's door. Ever since he left, she couldn't find a reason to leave her dorm room. Riley didn't know how to be there for her, Keiko seemingly had no empathy, and Cal. Cal was gone. Haleey looked at the notecards in her pocket, with a speech written on it. She gripped them and stormed into Shinji's room, ignoring the 'off limits' sign.
Meanwhile somewhere outside, perched on the building, the newest member of the villain's ranks observed the school that had been her home for so long, flattening her leopard-like ears every time someone passed by. None of these people were her friends, and she had no intention of talking to anyone. If only the rest would join her and Shinji, they'd all be together again. But they had their hearts set on becoming heroes, and she couldn't do anything about it. It was all so frustrating, really. She dug her claws into the cement, leaving long crooked gashes.
Haleey stepped in and expected to feel a wave of nostalgia, or some sort of relief, but all she felt was a memory. A memory of how this room was supposed to look. With clothes all over the floor, and Shinji's notes left on the ground, and a scrawled portrait of Cal pinned on their wall. The school stripped the room of his decorations, his clothes, his sheets, and his belongings. Shinji's bed say in the corner, without blankets or the piles of hoodies he accumulated. Haleey sat down on his bed and looked at her notes again.
'Shinji Haru's betrayal was a shock to us all. One of the most dedicated students, and kindest friend. He was brash and abrasive, but he was kind and brave. Seeing him turn to villainy shocks and terrifies me. Why did he leave, and how long had he been stewing? Who was inspired by this? Why did he leave everything behind? These are questions that I've thought since his departure, but I cannot answer them. But what i can say is that we must stay strong and stay true. Heroism is what we were born for, and remember, we must stay Plus Ultra!'
The girl walked at a slow pace down the cold hallways. She'd wanted to see this place one last time before leaving it behind for good; nothing more but another valueless memory to her. None of the others knew she was here, and she intended to keep it that way for their sake, and hers. She traced the walls with the tip of her fingers as she went, the surface oh so familiar. There was something... painful here, tugging at her heart to stay, and never leave. But she couldn't. She'd made a decision, and she was going to stick with it.
The principal and teacher gave her these cards a few days ago and asked her to read it allowed. To exploit Shinji's departure. To ignore what it meant. Haleey walked over to Shinji's desk and went to a secret compartment. Hidden inside a separate cabinet it was where he kept his journal. She stuck the cards back in her pocket and stared at the book. It was the key to finding out what happened to him.
She continued, passing by her friend's rooms, forcing herself to walk right past them as if they didn't mean anything to her. One of them was slightly open, and she immediately recognized it as Shinji's. He'd joined her in the villain's group not too long ago, still in the interrogation room. She shuddered. The thought of the room alone petrified her. Glancing inside her friend's old dorm, she bit back a surprised gasp. Someone was in there.
"Goddammit this was such a bad idea." she mumbled under her breath, lashing her tails in frustration. She had two options. Attempt to run away, or walk in the room. Someone would definitely see her if she tried to escape, and it would just be a cowardly thing to do. She decided on option two, her left hand instinctively reaching for the blade in her back pocket.
She twitched her tails, growling quietly, attempting to intimidate whoever was inside and hopefully avoid any conflict. Sure, she'd become a villain, but she wasn't ready to hurt anyone, not yet at least. Taking a deep breath as quietly as she could, she stepped inside the room, her padded feet barely making a soft 'thump' noise against the floor. As soon as her eyes laid on the other, a choked "oh no." escaped from her lips, her hand dropping the blade to the floor.
She stared wide eyed at the girl across the room, instantly recognizing her friend. She hadn't seen her in weeks, and it had hurt the first few days.
Seeing her again.. it hurt even more. Because she couldn't stay.
"..holy shit..." ignoring the hurricane of voices in her head screaming at her to turn back and run away, she crouched down on the floor, reaching for the other, but pulling her hand away at the last second. The girl was in a defensive position, visibly scared. Scared of her. She couldn't do this.
Haleey heard the girl. She was in disbelief. Was she going to kill her? Was she going to die in Shinji's room? No, she wouldn't die. Not yet at least. **** it.
Haleey loosened her wings, prepared to fight. She could fight. She looked forward and saw Cal. Her friend. Her classmate. Her sister. Cal was in disbelief, standing in the room, clearly in shock.
Haleey forgot about her fears. She forgot about the speech. She forgot about Shinji. Haleey ran towards Cal and hugged her as tight as she could.
"Hah, yeah.. they kind of are. They..they've given me some really great opportunities though, and im doing good, better than I've ever done."
Those last words were visible lies, but she hoped Haleey wouldn't see through her. Cal didn't want to let go either, and she rubbed her friend's back gently, enjoying her presence.
"..I couldn't stay. Im sorry...Everything was so overwhelming and I just.. had to get away. There was no way I couldn't leave and stay sane." she looked away, feeling guilty.
"I miss him too."
She couldn't tell her where he really was, that she'd seen him and led him to the group. She despised lying to Haleey, and it was incredibly hard.
Her ears flattened at the mention of her parents.
"Huh...that's strange, they're usually always busy.." she rested her head on Haleey, avoiding looking into her eyes. She'd definitely break down and spill everything.
"aww..I know..and I really, really, care about you guys too..."
she hesitated, sighing.
"You could come with us- I mean, me, y'know? I could introduce you to the group. They'd love you."
"Woah hey that's a severe understatement, are you kidding me? You're one of the most talented, strongest people I know! Don't you dare forget that." she grinned slightly, hugging her.
"Ah..I think you'd have to see for yourself. It's hard to explain- there's a lot of different stuff."
She didn't want to admit what the group really was, and what they actually did, but she was starting to trip on nervousness and guilt.
