The first boy shoved the tall one’s shoulder with annoyance. “Get up,” he commanded. The tall one shot up, not expecting to be touched, and hit his head on the roof, collapsing off the bunk with a small cry of shock as he hit the ground.

Void walked up to the door, reluctantly grabbing the silver handle to go inside. The door swung open before he opened it, making him fall backwards into the dirt with a thud.

I had one thought. Man, he’s tall.

Nathan was surprised by his response. He stared at him for a while, then shook his head. “Just, just don’t die, okay?” Nathan pressed, seizing Void's shoulder fiercely. “Yeah, okay. Even if I have to hide in a hole for 40 years, I’ll make sure I will survive,” Void promised.

Void sighed, walking forward, grabbing the collar of Spirit's vest, holding his arms at full extent, so she couldn’t hurt the child, or him. The child leaned on a tree, his arms crossed, his bright green eyes wide, not letting his gaze leave Void. Void's discomfort from the kid’s bright green gaze was very apparent, at least to me. He looked at the kid briefly, then turned his gaze towards Spirit. “Now what on earth are you doing?” Void scolded.

Void blinked, narrowing his eyes. “Of course, but that doesn’t mean I’m not human!” “I'm pretty sure you just said you weren't,” Spirit pointed out, waving her dagger.

Spirit screamed in terror, only to have Void's firm hand slap across her mouth. She thrashed in protest. “Shut up, you,” he whispered sternly. The beast lumbered right to the tree that Spirit had marked, then looked at Spirit. Gale whimpered, his eyes wide. “A Grup…” “Yeah, I can tell he’s a grump,” Spirit shrieked, breaking away from Void's grasp.

“What's so funny?” He asked her. “Are you planning to treat Void with poison ivy?”She mocked. Croy blinked, looked back at his plants, then freaked out, jumping back. “How did that get here?” “I am assuming you picked it,” Spirit said sarcastically.

Okay. If you told me three days ago my life would be thrown upside down by a half elf and a moody mechanic, I would have laughed. And probably would've slapped you in the face.

I found someone who could teach me how to use magic, and man is he good. He blew up my childhood nightmare. Or it might be just my nightmare. In the day and night time.

“Croy?” a soft voice asked. Emotions that were not my own bubbled through my thoughts, making my head feel a bit hollow. (Edit: Stop laughing Spirit.)

“Great choice of words there,” she said with an eye roll. “Yeah, you are Void alright. You haven’t changed much over the past how many years?” “Nine years, eleven months, and 28 days.” Void replied simply. “And I forgot how oddly specific you are.” Orca laughed, her face exposing dimples.

“Oh yeah. That would be in the pile.” “The pile,” Akasa said. “Very specific. Where is this pile?”

The man hobbled over to me, his axe pointed towards me. I backed up, bumping into the wall behind me. The wall was cool, actually, which was nice. He planted the axe right next to my head on the wall, so that if I moved my head or shoulder, I would be pierced by the blade. “Well you’re a pleasant host,” I murmured. The man chuckled. “You’re a fun one. I might play with you a little bit. Stay there as I stir my stew.”

“The name is Praxidike, but you better call me ‘Sir,’ do you hear me?” I couldn’t help but say, “ Yes, I am not deaf.”
