LinkSo basically if one of them are grey, they are dead in the underworld(where they are right now), if they're blue, that means that dead bats can see a blue shine if an alive bat comes down into the underworld. Goth bit Griffin and took his life, so Shade gave Griffin his life, because Griffin is Shade's son. Whats so sad is when he was rescuing him, that was the first, and last, time Shade had even SEEN his son

LinkBTW this is a scene from the 4th and I think final book in the Silverwing series. I have read them all (Silverwing, Sunwing, and this one: Firewing) except the prelude book about the past before Shade was alive. (darkwing)

Linkgreat series. the second I saw griffin go into the underworld, I knew that somehow Shade died. Which is sad because he's the protagonist of the books except darkwing, which is about Shade's missing father (he gets found btw( (the father I mean)
