LinkYour Oc had been hired to watch the children of an upper class family, the two sons of a physician named Maria Caldwell for a few days while she was on a trip. Why she was going alone was unclear.
The first weird thing when you got there were the three cats staring at you unblinking, one white with grey stripes, one black with white spots on her nose, the third a solid auburn color. Then again, they were cats.
After being introduced to the two kids- a 7 year old named Raven and a 10 year old named Anders, the first of the two ran upstairs, the second shouting at him and running after him. After a couple of minutes of Maria showing you around the house, she left.
You’re stuck now.
Cas was rather stuck at what to do - he didn’t want to disturb the two, and yet he was frightened they’d get themselves into mischief. He simply stood there for a moment.
He eventually decided to go check on them, not wanting them to somehow die without him knowing-
Anders was standing in front of a closed door. “You can’t lock yourself in your room forever!”
He glanced back at Cas. He hadn’t heard him come up. “Why should I tell you?”
(Anders is uh
A bit mean at times
But after a while he starts to be nice-)
“I have been hired to supervise you by Maria Caldwell. If he harms himself whilst in my care then I have done an insufficient job. It is important that I know why he is in a room that I cannot enter.”
( Well, they’re gonna be confused by the way he talks a lot-)
He hesitated. “He gets scared easy. He doesn’t like people, and he doesn’t even talk to me or mom.”
(Cas shall have to learn to speak like a... *ahem*.. commoner..)
“Do you shout at him?” Cas had... some experience with children unwilling to talk.
I’m afraid Cas sees through your lies, child. “You may be discouraging him from speaking. If someone shouts at you to do something, then you feel pressured to do so. And then you won’t do it. Have you ever thought about it that way?”
“No!” (Anders was a very angry child.
And he is still a very angry man-)
( He’s usually chill, but the moment he feels like he’s being accused of something he panics-)
“..”
(Cas isn’t trying to accuse him-
He just wants to help-)
“I simply want to help you talk to him. Perhaps try a calm approach? Make him feel safe.”
“It doesn’t matter if you shout at him. He’s scared of everything.”
“Please refrain from shouting. We’ve discussed this. How do you try and get him to talk?”
“Can’t you understand what keep your voice down means? I’d imagine you’re scaring him.”
( No cas, he really doesn’t-
He forgets he’s supposed to be quiet after 2 seconds-)
“..”
(“sHUT UP ALREADYYYYY-“ *swings axe*)
“It’s a possibility he fears that if he says anything, you’ll react like that. Have you ever thought of that?”
(Meanwhile, Raven’s just listening to the conversation going on and just thinking: ‘who is this, and why did h e have to get hired-‘)
“Now, something has obviously disturbed him. Perhaps leave him to calm down? He’ll come out when he’s ready.” I hope-
“Shall you come downstairs or go somewhere else?” Somewhere I’m unaware of-
“I’ll go downstairs.” He muttered. Most people his mom hired weren’t smart enough to argue with him so this was new-
(Cas shan’t loose, especially not against a child-)
“Good.” Cas go down.
(YEAH BEAT HIM U-
I mean uh-)
“So what do you usually do around this time?”
( SCREEEEEEEE-)
This was odd, meaning as he looked like he didn’t sleep much-
The black cat walked over and stared at Cas. (‘who is this ‘)
Cas gave a quick glance at the cat. He’d always liked the idea of having one, and yet, had never got around to doing so. (Hmmm I wonder who fixes that-)
( Not sure how they’d meet but sure-)
She seemed to be sizing him up. Castiel smelled like angel to her and she wasn’t sure why this stranger smelled like bird-
(Hel likes wandering-
Perhaps she just so happens to come across Hera-)
“... I feel she sees me as prey-“

“Probably.”
( Shes never seen an angel before what else would she think he was-)

“..” he just kept an eye on her-
( Cronan is upstairs sleeping and whatever the other cats name is is outside still, they don’t really care that he smells like bird. )
“..”
She retreated to a random shelf.
Watching him from the shelf.
(Hera’s just the menacing one-)
“Yes-“
( Cronan is sad but also Hera’s cooler than him and easier to draw-)
“She’s mean. “
The thing was, he could tell Cas wasn’t human, but wasn’t sure how he knew- (demon child, demon child-)
( Hehe-)
“Whenever she breaks stuff it becomes our fault. She likes breaking stuff.”
He heard smol red cat scratching at the door and went over, letting her in.
She immediately ran over to Cas, wanting to be his friend-
“Uhm- hello?” He backed away a little, expecting this one to show dislike towards him too.
“She wants you to-“
Staring outside, waiting for Cronan, who’s just standing there.
(Cas doesn’t know how to communicate with people and the same goes for animals-
Stop being mean to him-)
He pet her, face staying about the same. And yet something shone through his mask of misery to show he was happy.
( Cas, stop being wholesome right now, you’re going to make me squeal -)
She purred, letting him pet her, because she’s the nice one. (Cronan is the dumb one-)

Cas is my secretly wholesome boi and he shall forever be wholesome-)
A smile graced the corners of his mouth and he continued, liking both the noise and the feel. If he was ever to get a cat of his own, he hoped it would be like this one. “What’s her name?”
(Cronan is the funny one-)

“That ones Lucy. Cronan exists too but he’s death staring me.” (Y e s )
A floofy white cat with grey stripes bolted inside out of nowhere and upstairs. Anders followed him like this was normal.
The child is upstairs. Raven was hiding near the staircase, debating whether it was safe to come down
The cat was just letting him pet her and being a good cat-
Raven came downstairs.
“.. my name’s Castiel. I assume you heard, but in case you didn’t; I was hired to care for you. I shall not be here long, so if you dislike me (already), don’t worry.”
He didn’t say anything, but did seem to be staring behind him and not exactly at him.
He randomly went up to Cas, gave him a hug and ran away- (This means ‘hi’.)

“..” Cas is bamboozled. He hasn’t gotten a hug in a long time.
( Raven can still be wholesome s o m e t i m e s. But smol raven was just a baby, and you can’t tell me he wasn’t-)
Hiding in another room.
Raven kept looking at the empty space behind Cas. His eyes showed no fear, just general curiosity.
“Raven, do you see something behind me?” As did Raven’s eyes, Cas’s voice showed no fear. Nor curiousity, in this matter. He simply said it.
He nodded, remaining silent. He wasn’t going to tell him about the man wearing a deer skull standing a few feet behind him. He wouldn’t believe him. And he’d seen this one before, this one had always been friendly.
Cas simply gave him a small nod. He hadn’t expected a verbal answer, and was honestly just surprised he was answering at all.
He looked behind him - but not to see if anything was there. He was checking to look at Hera-
Cas looked at her a moment longer, before looking back at where Lucy had been.
He pet her again because he liked her. “Do you believe that animals can see ghosts, Raven?”
( If Cas asks him to draw what he sees behind him, I think he’d just

“?”
(And so Cas won’t-)
“Cats especially. They’ll stare at things for a while. A long time, in fact. And sometimes they look just behind you.”
( Yeah Cas is definitely gonna figure out raven can see ghosts-)
“..” He nodded. Cronan had once swatted at a ghost. Hera usually ignored them, but sometimes she hissed at them, and Lucy would just stare.
(What makes you think he hasn’t already-)
“I think that’s what disturbs some people. That cats just stare behind you.” He gave a pause, still looking at Lucy. “Are you like a cat, Raven?”
( Oh, right, he’s an angel and he’s smart-)
“..?” He didn’t fully understand Cas-

“You stare behind people. You stare at things. You,” he finally looked up at him. “see things that we don’t.”

Fear flashed in his eyes. He though Castiel would be mad at him, or laugh at him. You could easily tell he wanted to run. He knew it wasn’t normal.
( Catiel. Yes. I forgot-)
He noticed his obvious alarm, and kept his face the same. “I won’t hate you for it. Or treat you any differently than I would anyone else. Think of it this way: do I dislike cats for it?”

“...” He shook his head. He wanted to believe Cas, but he was terrified-
(I’m sorry qwq(
“Exactly. And if you haven’t yet noticed, which I do believe you have, I treat both animals and people the same; I have no skills with either. And so, I won’t tell anyone of you, nor hold any grudge against you. I doubt you asked for this. Having to hide something.”
(*sobs*)

He’d stopped shaking, but remained silent. (Raven didn’t really talk until he met Navarii-)

“I’m not your enemy and I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to. I won’t tell anyone anything unless you want me to, which I doubt you do. Is that alright?” (O-)
( nOOOOOOO- *hug* )
“..” Raven nodded. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt he could trust Cas.
(*sad midget noises*)
“Good.” (Because, Raven, Cas is the good guy with bad guy vibes. He’s clever and knows how to keep his mouth shut. He also loves cuddles and- no wait that’s the wholesome file hang on-)

“Now, what are you going to do?”

“A cat went upstairs earlier. Cronan, I do believe? Anyway, I assume it’s yours because the others seem to stay down here.”

“..” He nodded again. Cronan wasn’t technically his, but Cronan liked him more than the others did.

(imagine modern day Cas sees raven fighting something-)
He went back upstairs.
( The cat boy he hasn’t seen in like 9 years -)
(And then Raven would just be like “its cat man-“)
Cas continued to pet Lucy.
Raven was now upstairs, in his room, drawing. He liked to draw the ghosts. He wasn’t good at it.
( Tbh he’s probably doing homework-)
He was drawing skull man now.

Just pet the cat because he doesn’t know what to do now.

He wanted to cuddle her but didn’t want to wake her up-

Cas eventually went to go check on the two because he didn’t want them dying-
Raven is just drawing. Anders is writing something, aka homework.
Raven was huddled in the corner, and Cronan was sitting next to him. He glanced up at Cas when he left, but Raven doesn’t talk so-
Cas thought he should probably start making them dinner-
He was rather terrified of doing this, though, in fear of doing something wrong or anything along that line.
(*serves them charcoal*)
*insert montage of Cas cooking and not setting fire to the kitchen*
Cas ended up making spaghetti bolognese because it’s what I want right now stop judging-
(And with garlic bread too-)
“..” he didn’t want to disturb them, but instead just thought of food getting cold and being wasted, and so he went to go get them-

Ravens in the same corner, but Anders is looking through a shelf.
(Cas you forgot an important p a r t - )
“.. I apologise for disturbing you, but I’ve made dinner.”
(If this rp had a name, it’d be called ‘Cas being a dad for a few days.’)
They go downstairs because listen to Cas he’s smart-
( Dang it, I missed the opportunity-)
(Hey! You! Does your oc vaguely resemble a parent? Can they kind of look after kids? Great! Maria Caldwell is looking to hire YOU to take care of her children!)
Dinner on table.
When they finished eating, they hid upstairs again. Cronan was now downstairs, chasing Lucy around the house-
After finish, Cas tried to stop Cronan because he didn’t want anything being b r o k e n -
Cas just took him away from Lucy. “I apologise to spoil your fun, but the destruction of any items would be classified as my fault.”
He went to go bother Hera, who swatted at his nose, causing him to hiss at her and hide under the table. She didn’t bother chasing him.
) timeskip to the next day or should Cas find Raven staring out the window at like 2 am-)
Cats are being chaotic.
(2am window staring challenge. *GONE WRONG* *POLICE CALLED* *TURNED INTO A WEREWOLF* *NEAR DEATH SANDWICH INCIDENT!!!!*)
Cad just calmly cleaning. (Cas got autocorrected to ‘dad’ and then ‘cat’ I-)
He just grabbed Lucy, giving her cuddles and scolding Hera-
(Yeahhh so Cas might just have a favourite-)
Cas glared at Hera until he was sure she was asleep (because cats are often fakers). And then he gave Lucy more cuddles because he felt bad-
Cas placed her on his shoulders and went back to cleaning, giving her little pets occasionally. He hadn’t noticed, but he had the faintest hint of a smile on his face.
(Cas has unlocked an achievement! Sleepy kitty scarf.)
Cas finishes cleaning. Again.

Cas eventually tucked up Lucy somewhere comfortable; he imagined his shoulders weren’t exactly her dream sleeping place. He then went to check on the two.

Ravens hiding somewhere. Anders is reading and actually not being destructive for once-
“I apologise for disturbing you, again, but it’s getting rather late. Is it time you go to bed..?”
“Ah- my apologies. It seems I’m thinking too much... do you know where Raven is...?”
( “it’s barely dark out”
“you’ve used this trick 3 times it’s midnight go to bed-“)
“No.”
Raven was hiding in a room in a hall Maria had said to avoid, staring out the window.
He didn’t hear him calling- he was just staring out the window.
The room was like an office, put simply, but it didn’t look like anybody had been in there for a while. The bookshelves were dusty, and based on the way papers were just scattered across the desk, it looked like someone had just left. Some silver flowers were growing in a pot by the window, faintly glowing in the moonlight.
Cas felt he shouldn’t be there - because he shouldn’t. “Raven, are you supposed to be here..?”
( my brain just died and I thought Cas was Ez -)
“..” He shook his head.
“I’m afraid I do not know who this is. But what I do know is they you and I should not be here. Shall we leave?”
“You may do as you please for a while, then it is time that you rest for the night. Is that alright?”

He gave Lucy a quick head pat, before checking the place for anything that got knocked over or broken. He hoped there was nothing broken, even though he would be able to fix it. He just didn’t want to break stuff-

“... alright then. Make yourself comfortable and I’ll be there in just a moment.” Just mentally processing the fact that this random child trusts him and wants him to read to him.

He hesitated. He wasn’t sure of exactly w h a t he should do-
He quickly skimmed over a few pages before starting to read. He didn’t stumble over the words but his voice had no emotion, as per usual. Soon enough, he realised this and paused.
He didn’t seem to care. He didn’t mind- it was better than not being able to know what it said at all.
He stopped for a while then started reading again, exaggerating words when needed and so on. It sounded strange as you became used to the way he spoke rather quickly, and the fact his face also showed expression made it a stranger experience. But he was rather good at it in all honesty, it was just rather... strange to see him show anything than his usual.

Once finished, he shut the book with a gentle and yet satisfying ‘thud’. He was smiling and his cheeks had the faintest trace of red placed upon them. “Was that alright?”
