So. I have an announcement. On March 10th, right before my spring break, I'm going to the hospital to get a spinal fusion surgery. I have scoliosis, which means that my spine has an extreme curve to it. I wore a back brace since I was 8. The last three months II took it off, because I was done. I was through with not being able to sleep at night, done with constantly scratching at my undershirt. It was embarrasing and stressful. So I took it off. Now I'm paying for that. I am going in to the Children's hospital (because that's where my back doctor is) and they are going to cut me open and put metal bolts and rods in and on my spine. They will graft bone to fuse some vertebrae together, therefore straightening my spine. The Mayo Clinic describes it this way: "Spinal fusion is surgery to permanently connect two or more vertebrae in your spine, eliminating motion between them." It is a major surgery. I am scared, but it was inevitable. My spine's curve was too much. (1/2)

Wearing the brace won't fix my back. There is no other option. So I'm posting this announcement to let you guys know, and to get it off my chest. -Moonstar (2/2)
