As I raced through the forest from the city to 'home', I could feel the breeze in sync with my running. I could hear the singing beetles and croaking frogs throughout the forest. The fireflies that glowed looked like stars in the sky. Above the trees I could see the sky. It was a deep purple but glowed. The moon glistening made it seem like the night will never end. - When I found 'home' I slowed my running in to a walking pace. I sat on the old log for probably the one-millionth time. I looked at the endless sky and it's never ending stars. I realized something. They were familiar. They were the same exact stars, same exact position. They were.. the night my old life had been long gone. Deteriorated. -

We were all together that night. Me, my mother, my father and my sister. Before the glowing heat of the forest fire split all of us apart. I remember my mother's worried eyes as she carried us. My father panicking as he was looking for a route we could take to escape. My sister's frightened eyes looked at me. "What's gonna happen, Noah?" "I, I don't know." I replied just as frightened as everyone else but trying to look calm. "Will I ever see mom and dad again?" She continued. "Will I ever see you again?" The words she said had stung me because I didn't have an answer. As I thought trying to find an answer, she knew I didn't before I could say anything. We were both quiet as my mother carried us. For what seemed the longest time, my sister broke the silence. "When this all ends meet me by the log. Okay? We can find each other again." -

"O-Okay." Was the only word I managed to say. "Promise me you will go every night, to the log until we find each other. When the frogs and crickets sing and when the fireflies glowed." I Promised my sister as we were swung abruptly when my mother couldn't move. She was stuck. A few trees had fell and created a trap and my mother fell in. She let go of us. "Go follow your father, don't worry about me." I hesitated until enormous flames of fire crawled nearly getting me. My and my sister ran in fright, catching up to my father. I looked back and saw the trees being eaten up by the monster. The fire. -

As I followed my father with my sister tagging along we were silent, but we could all see each others grief and frightened faces. There was so much smoke and I was getting dizzy as I walked. Soon my head was pounding and ached with pain. My vision darkened and blurred. It all went black. -

When I woke up. My legs and back ached. My eyesight was blurry but adjusted to the bright light. It was morning. The sun glowing made the plain of grass and the rock I was next to, glow. Wait a minute, where am I? Where did everyone go? I froze in panic. And it's where I discovered my new life. I was where the tall long legged and arm creatures, humans lived. I was in a park. Unsure of where to find the forest and what to do. -

- Remembering the reason why I come in the forest made me lose hope. I've been doing this for so long and seen no sign of my family. If only I could've kept following, if only I didn't passed out, if only.. I sat there in silence remembering I brought food to eat. I ate my bread. Before I could think of what else I could've done that night I heard something in a nearby bush. I perked up an ear to listen. A silhouette of something peeked from behind the bush. "Noel." Was the only thing I managed to mutter. -
