Link1. Perfect life backstory.
Characters having a good life is not bad. It's a good backstory, as long as it makes sense of course. But it wouldn't make sense if nothing bad ever happens. Not very realistic, is it? So just try to balance things out!
2. Normal life.
A normal life is also good due to it being fairly realistic. Not everyone's past has to be terrible. Some can be both, like how normal life is.
3. Semi-good/bad backstory.
This is common amongst my characters. I feel the need for both tragedy and greatness for my characters. Of course, I try to balance out the good and the bad. Having weaknesses and strengths from their backstory. Which will be important to their story later on. It can be bad, if you don't make it balance out enough or unrealistic.
4. Terrible backstory.
Ah, the most common type. Look, I adore tragedy and all. But I find it stereotypical to associate your characters with disorders, like depression, with a shit representation and really bad look of it. Than what the actual

Link-thing looks like. But, it can be good if it's realistic, you've done research on the disorders you have given them because of their past and represent tragedy well.
Remember yall, not every backstory is bad just because the character had a horrible or good life. As long as it's represented well!
