Ahuizotil- means spiny aquatic thing. their god Ilhuicatl, originaly called Ahuizotil because of how sharp her scales are. There are three main types of Ahuizotil, Cave, Beach, Ocean. Ilhuicatl is the god/goddess of all but Beach Ahuizotil are mostly in her immage. Cave and Sea, are by Ilhuicatls daughters/sons. Cozcatl is Cave, Teoutl is Sea.

The water splashed and sprayed. she could see the azur glint of spiny dorsal fins skim the water as Ahuizotls swim up to shore. Wind whistled through the chilly air as webbed talon steps splattered on the soggy sand. Sharp claws curled, digging groves in the sand as Ahuizotls swished out form the water, their creamy orange scales shimmering in the moonlight. The lures on the three Ahuizotl shone brightly, swaying from their nape, tail and chin. Atl flicked her tongue tasting the moist salty air. The smell of blood hung in the air as the hunting party returned. Yohua’s oversized webbed talons squelched as he waddled over to their cave, dragging a huge shark in his mouth.Atl watched him carefully behind her rock as he laid the shark making the sand of their cave wet. Xocotl came in next, her bright watchful blue eyes scanned the main cave as she walked in with two large fish in her mouth. Their cave was found in a small slanted cliff face, it sloped down into a cave system with 9 caves, and possibly more.

The sand here was dry, silky and warm, unlike the cold, clumpy, wet sand of the far off beach. Quiyahuitl waddled in next, happily dragging a huge blue fish. As he sat down at the mouth of the cave, Atl noticed how his blue toe-beans where bleeding, then looked closer at the fish and noted its sharp teeth and the yellow blood that stained them. Chalchiuhtlicue waddled up from her mothers cave and flopped down at Xocotls talons, gnawing them, but mom didn’t seem to pay attention to the drooling monster at her talons. She was staring off into the blue. Atl wonders what she is thinking of. She started to get bored, Atl slithered around her rock and crouched, she focused on her target then leaped with webbed talons outstretched. She caught Chalchiuhtlicue under her talons undetected. Mother would be proud. Chalchiuhtlicues small body fumbled under Atls claws as she tried to twist under and runaway, but Atl caught her tail in her mouth. “Ack!” Chalchiuhtlicue screeched.
