gameplay was a 10/10 the fluidity of combat made this game so unbelievably fun to play, shield charging across the arena towards an enemy followed by parrying said enemy and then countering with a melee before finishing them off with a punch and so on so forth, all of it was so amazing and each weapon felt unique and special

my personal two favorite weapons to use were the Impaler and Super Shotgun combined with the Dreadmace. The Dreadmace one shots most enemies in the game while also giving me a load of ammo and health with the downside of only have one use per few minutes, the impaler at max level would refund me an amount of my melee charge with each headshot I got with it along with making each of my shield dashes and parries drop ammo for the gun itself when when picked up would then supercharge the next shot fired, and then the super shotgun is just a classic and is always amazing I would mainly use it to dwindle the health of larger enemies if the impaler wasn't doing enough on its own

my go to combat loop would be as follow: shoot enemy in head with impaler, shield charge enemy picking up ammo and supercharging next shot, melee the enemy to kill them, shoot next enemy in head with supercharged shot, shield charge them for damage and ammo, and repeat...

that mixed in with the occasional parrys that, due to my shields level, would send a wave of holy blades out into the arena killing mass amounts of enemies

I genuinely cannot get over how fun the combat is in this game I need more of it..

and really that's one of my only complaints with the game, after the campaign there's kind of nothing. sure you can replay it on harder difficulties and go and do all the weapon masteries and level challenges but other than that there's nothing else

and I know the game like literally just came out and I am probably asking too much for a single player fps game but I feel that with how amazing the combat is that this game would thrive from a horde like mode

now I don't know how hard those are to make or what exactly would go into it but just being able to kill constant waves and waves of demons would be so so fun

the only other complaint is with the music. now the music isn't bad in fact I personally love it, when I can here it that is the audio mix in this game is a little wack at times, it feels like doom and it getse pumped but it just doesn't and never will hit the same as Mick Gordons soundtracks for the previous two games will and that not to disrespect the people who made the soundtrack for this game because they did an amazing job but more this is angled towards Bethesda and how they treated Mick back when Doom Eternal released and how because of that we will never have the Doom Eternal soundtrack on Spotify and we lost what could have been possibly one of the greatest in game soundtracks of all time

so yeahhh those are my thoughts, I'm still going to grind out the levels and try to get everything to 100% completion over these next few days though so I'm not done with the game just yet

and dlc is basically confirmed with this game as the premium edition claimed to give access to all future dlcs when purchased so that is exciting (hopefully better than Eternals dlcs.. they weren't bad just rushed and we're developed during covid so things were all aro unfortunate)

9.5/10 I literally am in love with this game I need more of it

also the Doom Slayer is hot thats another bonus
