It’s understandable you might not want to go but you didn’t mess it up. It was an accident. I’m sure the most important thing for your friend on their birthday is your presence not your gift. I’m sure they want you to be there for them.
if you're friends then surely you attending the party to spend time with them and have a fun day would be enough of a present
