Life in the facility started out rough as the scientist, who demanded to exclusively be addressed by "Boss" had cruel ways of keeping everyone in control. Not all was bad though, He had a friend, who didn't looks his age but was the same age, Ebisu. Ebisu and Clover were inseperable when they had no tasks or weren't being tested on. Ebisu considered their relationship to be like brothers. While Clover always hoped for more, developing a little crush on his childhood friend.

After many years of exploitation and abuse, a destructive lapse of control of Ebisus building powers had allowed many in the facility to escape. Clover refused to leave his friend behind, attempting to calm him down. Sadly Ebisu could not control what he was burdened with, and with the last of his strength, threw him to safety. Though it was a rough landing, Clover was able to escape, still with the chip in him he hides from his old Boss, and struggles to survive.
