A little better dog water from 2019 -->

I honestly haven't drawn Kayla in such a long time... and god lord when I looked back at the trash of a story she was written in, I was ready to hurl. THE WRITING WAS SO BAD DUDE!! MIDDLE SCHOOL WRITING CRINGE AT ITS FINEST

The story was basically about Kayla dying, finding out she's some special spirit and going along with some new spirit friends to defeat the bad guys, which they call the hunters, and restore balance in their world. Sounds straightforward, huh? NOT AT ALL!! There are so many unnecessary twists and turns that I couldn't even keep up with who was who and what was what. Suddenly it's revealed that Kayla isn't actually the water spirit, but somehow the ULTRA spirit instead? (Basically a combined spirit, where she has all the powers of the other spirits)

I'm sorry but like- Excuse me w h a t??? When and why, how, and what? It was funnier than anything to look back at how utter garbage my writing was, without me even realizing it. I actually stopped writing midway, and you can really tell when I stop and pick up the writing, cause the style changes COMPLETELY! I don't think the story can get any better, so I'm not even gonna touch it.

Now with that out of the way, I will say that Kayla was one of my favorite characters in the book, despite having not a lot of personality and overall being a complex character with a weird backstory... Her design was different, and it really grew on me, despite having not drawn her in almost two years... Even though I love her, and her design very much, THERE WAS A LOT TO CHANGE, CAUSE OH LORDY JESUS CHRIST WAS HER OUTFIT A MESS. I looked up references to change up her outfit, maybe even the slightest bit, but there was no hope for that crap, so I just remodeled it completely and called it a day. Overall probably my best redraw in a long while! I really enjoyed doing the water, shading her, and doing all that lighting! Although I won't be continuing that story she's in, I still have the same love for the characters (Except for Fee, we don't talk about him) as I did back in 2018. I know you guys probably don't care about my rambling, but I hope you liked this drawing!~
