Intact*

Finally, it’d been days in the planning and scouting, but finally he’d done it. Gregory had made it into Clay’s Mega Pizza-Plex, and he couldn’t be happier. The amount of security in the day alone had made it a nightmare to sneak in. But the amount of security also gave Gregory a much needed sense of, well, security. Even if anyone found out he’d snuck in he’d be in so much trouble. It made him feel safe due to the fact that whoever, or whatever, had been stalking him outside would more than likely be deterred by the amount of security. That of course was the main reason for sneaking in, other than food and warmth. Then there was also the simple fact that he just wanted to mess around. A sense of wonder and excitement filled his mind as he weaved through the crowd of dragons and people. Momentarily he locked eyes with a security guard, she gave him a suspicious look so he quickly looked away. He passed gift shops, spotted the daycare, and went into an elevator.

It was a little crowded in the elevator, but he didn’t mind it too much. The doors opened, revealing the main stage, surrounded by different attractions. There were three levels, the first floor had the main stage with the party floor in the middle. To the left where Gregory stood was Tsunami’s water weave raceway and it was so big that it also took up space on the floor above. The right of the stage was some kind of laser tag place called Fire scale, and it also took up a bit of space on the floor above. The second floor, next to the raceway was Glory’s hide and seek nature pavilion, then next to Fire scale was Blue’s bowling. It had a sign next to it reading “Play to win cool facts about Pantala!” Lastly the third level had an arcade that took up half the floor directly above Fire scale and the bowling alley. The other side was occupied by Starflight’s walk through the ages gallery.

The place was massive, but Gragory got the feeling that he shouldn’t try to get into any of the attractions without knowing anything about them. He didn’t want to draw attention to himself if the attractions needed some kind of pass to get into. So he decided to walk over to the main stage where a lot of kids and dragonets were crowding in front of. Well walking he spotted a screen on one of the second floor balconies reading: “Show time in…”, with a countdown. “3… 2… 1…” “Ladies and gentlemen!” the loud speaker over head started announcing, “Please welcome to the stage, the Clay and the Dragonets of Destiny!” Everyone started actively pushing and shoving forward. Gregory, in an effort not to get caught deep in the crowd went against the flow of others getting closer to the stage. Eventually he ended up next to a party table, with an unattended hoodie hanging over a chair. He glanced around, seeing as everyone was focused on what was the stage show he grabbed the hoodie.

Then ducking under the table he examined it closer. It still had it’s tags on, so he swiftly bit them off and tried it on under the table. It was kinda big on him, but he could grow into it so it being a little baggy was fine. Suddenly gasps followed by crying and an announcement on the loudspeaker caught his attention. “Clay is feeling under the weather at the moment so he and the rest of his friends will be returning to Rock Star row, and we’ll be closing early tonight. Please make your way to the nearest exit. For Everyone in our attractions right now you will be able to finish your activities!” Within minutes everything in the main stage area was quiet. Cautiously Gregory got out from under the table. He looked around a little, spotting something on the main stage, and something else in front of the entrance of the raceway. Quickly he ducked back under the table, he recognized that creepy homemade dragon costume anywhere. Somehow the person stalking him had gotten into the Pizza-Plex.

He lifted up a bit of the cheap plastic table cloth to watch whoever it was. They stood in front of the raceway for a moment before walking in. “Are you in here, Gregory?” His blood ran cold, she-they whoever that was, knew his name. All he knew was that he needed to get out, and or hide. Looking back to the stage he realized it was one of the animatronics, probably Clay as it sounded like he had some kinda slight malfunction that powered him off. Gregory briefly wondered if the robotic dragon could help him if he could somehow power him back on. So, he ran over. With a mild amount of caution he started poking and prodding the much larger animatronic mudwing. Quickly he found out that the lighting bolt on Clay’s chest was a button, and it opened a rather big compartment. Truthfully not what he’d been looking for, but a hiding spot wasn’t the worst thing. So carefully he climbed inside, the compartment closing automatically once he was fully inside.

A few minutes passed, before he heard something, and felt Clay being moved. He inhaled sharply covering his mouth to try and muffle any sound he might make. After a few very very tense minutes they stopped. There were a few odd noises, before a screen turned on in front of Gregory. Clay was rebooting, and Gregory guessed he was seeing whatever Clay was seeing through the screen. That’s when Clay started talking to himself. “Shut it!” Gregory whisper-yelled at the robotic dragon. “What? Who said that?” Clay exclaimed, looking around. “I did! Down here!” he replied as he crossed his arms. “Down… where? I don’t see you”. “Listen, you were asleep or something so I opened the chest hatch, cavity thing, and climbed inside beca-”. “You what? My chest hatch? That place is for anyone to be in, you could get hurt!” The hatch opened and Gregory tumbled out.

“There you are. Are you alright? You’re not hurt are you?” Clay asked before his eyes turned blue for a moment. “Okay, that’s the scan done. Huh, odd. Your guest profile is missing. Who are you, little scavenger?” Clay asked, ruffling Gregory’s hair a bit. He inhaled deeply, talking when he wasn’t face to face with this robot was one thing. Face to face though? That was another. “I-I’m Gregory”. “Gregory,” Clay nodded a bit to himself, “I should notify the main office”. Immediately Gregory felt his heartbeat speed up a bit, kind of divided weather or not being caught was better, or worse. “And there’s some kind of connection error. It’s not working,” Clay frowned. “It’s her,” Gregory released to his own horror, whoever was stalking him must have cut off any connections to outside. “S-She’s not going to let you call for help until she finds me”. “Who? Your mother?” Clay asked, tilting his head.

“No! It’s…” Gregory stopped, “Shh! I hear footsteps”. He walked over to the window, watching as the security guard from earlier walked past. “Hey, it’s the security guard. I bet she could help”, Clay said well smiling. Gregory shook his head fiercely, “Nuh-uh, no way! I don’t trust her. She looked at me funny earlier! And could you possibly stop talking so loudly?” “Oh. Well… What if you took a novelty DoD watch?” “A what?” “Let me just find it really quick…” Gregory sat down, and rested his head in his hand, as he watched the robotic mudwing beginning to search his room.
