If your characters look too basic (anatomically, not markings) THEN WHEN YOU REDESIGN THEM DRAW UPSIDE-DOWN!! When you draw a subject, your left brain will cause you to always draw things the same, causing your design to be really stale and boring. However, you can beat this by tricking your left brain!! By drawing upside-down, your brain cannot identify and dictate your subject, giving your right-brain free-reign. Even if you have warrior cats ocs or something, doing this can help make your characters be a lot more versatile!
